Apple Certified Refurb is the only way to buy. I bought my MacBook Pro as a refurb. No issues – just like new.

I was hoping for a little more of a discount. I know, I know, but I am pretty cheap lately these days.
I’ve bought various Apple Certified PowerBooks and MacBooks over the years for myself, family and company, saving a lot of $$$. I have never had a problem. The computers have always arrived just like new. It’s a great way to go especially if you don’t need the most recent model.

But instead it came with a 500 gig

Just for all your info… the iPod Touch’s are last year’s model, the original, the classic… whatever you want to call it. If you doubt it compare it to the info/tech specs on the new ones…
thanks for pointing that out Rick. I wonder how these deals will compare to the day after thanksgiving ones. If that was $219 for a refurb 2nd gen 16GB touch i would have jumped at it. The black friday deal will likely be more modest … around 10% off.

Generally speaking, it is rare to find a better deal than you’ll find on the Apple Store “Special Deals” page. Once in awhile, you might find a new Mac discounted to the same price as a refurb of the same model; but if you live outside California, thus saving the 7.75% CA sales tax, Apple refurb prices are very hard to beat.
Condisdering that the touch is the previous model, and that I can get a brand new current model for about $60 more, I don’t think the refurbished model is a good deal for me. Apple can keep its touch and I will keep my money.

Just a note alansky: Apple can charge sales tax throughout most of the US due to its operations, call centers, and retail store locations. Wherever a company has a physical presence, it can charge sales tax. Now PowerMax (and others), on the other hand, has no sales tax at all….

You are correct the deals should be better considering.
(This is for iPod Touch, I just bought).
1. Previous model (Missing features of the current).
2. Used (Refurbished).
3. Have to spend $10. for OS Upgrade (Unless you already have a touch that has been upgraded then iTunes will upgrade free) This should have been done at the factory.
4. No nice packaging. (Makes you look cheep if it is a gift.
