Apple Store Online now taking orders for new 24-inch LED Cinema Display

Apple LED Cinema Display - Apple Store (U.S.)Apple’s new 24-inch LED Cinema Display is now available for order from the U.S. Apple Store which currently lists the display as shipping within “7-10 business days.”

With the Apple LED Cinema Display (US$899), you can turn your new MacBook into a desktop in three easy connections. The universal MagSafe connector charges your notebook. A new Mini DisplayPort connector makes attaching an external display even easier and faster than before. And a USB connector provides access to three USB 2.0 ports. There’s also a built-in iSight camera, microphone, and speaker system that provide a true desktop experience. Made of aluminum and glass, the LED Cinema Display is the perfect companion for the new MacBook family.

Made for the new MacBook family. The LED Cinema Display is the first display designed specifically for the MacBook. Three easy connections allow you to extend your desktop, charge your MacBook and access a world of USB peripherals.

Connect via Mini DisplayPort. The LED Cinema Display attaches to your new MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air using the new industry-standard Mini DisplayPort connector. Other display connectors have you lining up pins or fumbling with screws. But the Mini DisplayPort connector is easy in, easy out.

Extend your desktop. Connect your new MacBook to the LED Cinema Display, and it’s like upgrading your screen to first class. The 24-inch LED-backlit widescreen display adds 1920 by 1200 pixels to your workspace, giving your work more room to impress. And its glossy finish makes graphics, photos, and video appear in rich colors and deep blacks.

The LED advantage. LEDs are solid-state light sources that are an ideal complement to digital LCDs. They light up very quickly, which means you experience full screen brightness the moment you connect your LED Cinema Display to your new MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air. And LEDs are completely mercury-free.

MagSafe connector. The LED Cinema Display is the perfect companion for your new MacBook, because it includes a convenient universal MagSafe connector that powers and charges your MacBook when you’re back at your home, office, or dorm. You can leave your MacBook power adapter right in your bag, ready to hit the road.

Built-in conveniences. With a built-in iSight camera, microphone, speaker system, and USB hub, the LED Cinema Display keeps your desktop clutter-free. Have video conferences with your MacBook closed. Listen to music without headphones. And leave your USB peripherals connected to the display for quick get-up-and-go productivity.

Green design. The LED Cinema Display, like the latest-generation iPod, iPhone, and Mac computers, features mercury-free LED backlight technology and arsenic-free glass. The display is also free of BFRs and PVCs in all internal cables and components. In addition, the glass and aluminum construction make the display highly recyclable, so its raw materials can be used in other types of products. It receives a Gold rating from the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT).

  1. For an LED backlit monitor such as this the price is very good. The major downfall of it is the heinous 14 ms response time but before anyone comments on that I have looked up other makers who have alot worse ex. NEC multisync which has 20 ms and is only a 21″ not widescreen and starts at $2800. Even before looking at others I thought it was rather a low price for apple to have a 24″ for that low. I guess my only gripe would be why is this not for anything but the laptops? I’d love to slap this between my 2 22″ samsungs or even to replace one. And this by far is the best looking monitor I have ever seen.

  2. I will buy no more Apple products until Jobs gives me the choice between glossy or matte.

Guess I’ll go back to building my own. At least I’ll get the hardware I want instead of the hardware Jobs says I have to make due with.

I’ll miss OSX. Linux, here I come.

MDN word: using, as in using Linux because Stevie’s being a putz!

  3. The million dollar question is, does this display suppord HDCP?

If it does, we’ll be able to playback all that HD content purchased through iTunes; if not, it will be playable only on built-in displays of iMacs and portables.

  4. @Haiku,

This is not a pro Display. It is a consumer display for those who have purchased a new MacBook or MacBook Pro. This display is not of any use to the other 99.995% of Mac users at this point.

We’ll see if Apple releases any new displays in January. My guess is they will. And I suspect only a 30″ will be available for the pro’s, still available in matte. Because only pro’s want matte. Why? Because Steve Jobs says so.

  5. I’ll wait until the pixels are snappier.. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” /> Actually, I hope someone comes out with some kind of Mini DVI to Mini DisplayPort connector.. This would make an excellent extra monitor for my 24″ iMac.

  6. hmm I dunno

900 for a monitor. HP sells a 24 incher for 400. Samsung around the same.

I get the Apple monitor is better quality and got LEDs and such, but to fork up another 300 bucks is asking a bit much.

My mate is thinking of getting one cos his missus works at Apple. Still even with the discount he could buy two 22 inch monitors for the price of a Apple display.
