That the pro screen is not matte
But what do I know
For an LED backlit monitor such as this the price is very good. The major downfall of it is the heinous 14 ms response time but before anyone comments on that I have looked up other makers who have alot worse ex. NEC multisync which has 20 ms and is only a 21″ not widescreen and starts at $2800. Even before looking at others I thought it was rather a low price for apple to have a 24″ for that low. I guess my only gripe would be why is this not for anything but the laptops? I’d love to slap this between my 2 22″ samsungs or even to replace one. And this by far is the best looking monitor I have ever seen.
Does it provide access to a firewire port?
I will buy no more Apple products until Jobs gives me the choice between glossy or matte.
Guess I’ll go back to building my own. At least I’ll get the hardware I want instead of the hardware Jobs says I have to make due with.
I’ll miss OSX. Linux, here I come.

The million dollar question is, does this display suppord HDCP?
If it does, we’ll be able to playback all that HD content purchased through iTunes; if not, it will be playable only on built-in displays of iMacs and portables.

This is not a pro Display. It is a consumer display for those who have purchased a new MacBook or MacBook Pro. This display is not of any use to the other 99.995% of Mac users at this point.
We’ll see if Apple releases any new displays in January. My guess is they will. And I suspect only a 30″ will be available for the pro’s, still available in matte. Because only pro’s want matte. Why? Because Steve Jobs says so.

They’ll sell f*ck all of these things. Over priced for the consumer market to ‘tag on’ to your Macbook, and lacking the matte display making it impractical for the Pro market. Duh.

900 for a monitor. HP sells a 24 incher for 400. Samsung around the same.
I get the Apple monitor is better quality and got LEDs and such, but to fork up another 300 bucks is asking a bit much.
My mate is thinking of getting one cos his missus works at Apple. Still even with the discount he could buy two 22 inch monitors for the price of a Apple display.
