“Apple has applied for a patent for an ‘automatically adjusting media display in a personal display system,’ a kind of head-tracking eyewear that gives the user ‘the impression of being in the theater,'” Robert Palmer reports for TUAW.
“The device looks not unlike a pair of goggles that display a cropped version of a larger media file. As the wearer moves his or her head, a gyroscope and accelerometer in the goggles adjust the crop of the media file, making it appear to the user as if they were in a theater-like experience,” Palmer reports.
“The patent also includes provisions for techniques to reduce eyestrain, determine when the user reaches the ‘edge’ of the media file, and zoom in and out,” Palmer reports.

The “matte” feature is a tiny nozzle that sandblasts your eyeballs.

Frigtard… it’s a fruitful lab experiment showing promise. The consumer version will change our lives, just like Mac, iTS, and iPhone.
Many have tried and failed at VR devices, but you know, if Apple tries it, I’ll bet they do it right. The only failed potential of this has been iffy implementations…the displays of iphones and ipods are of high enough resolution to do this right.
Or it could just be an attempt to induce panic into Apple’s competitors, inciting them to rush out competing but ill-conceived products to compete at great expense, thus leaving Apple with more money to devote to R&D;and marketing….
So basically I’d be able to zoom in on a girl’s “goodies” while watching porn, right? Like so close you feel like you could reach out and take the nipple in your mouth like a baby? No, that’s not useful at all! I’m waiting for the stimmie glasses they have in He, She & It.
