Livestrong.com debuts Calorie Tracker for Apple iPhone, iPod touch

Livestrong.com today announced the Livestrong.com Calorie Tracker application for iPhone and iPod touch is now available via the Apple App Store.

The new application provides an easy way for iPhone and iPod touch users to monitor their nutritional intake by tracking what they eat and how much they exercise each day.
“At Livestrong.com, we believe in helping people better manage their healthy living no matter where they are or what they’re doing during the course of their days,” said Larry Fitzgibbon, general manager of Livestrong.com, in the press release. “With the launch of Livestrong.com Calorie Tracker for the iPhone, it is now easier and more convenient for everyone to realize their fitness goals and monitor their health achievements every day.”

“It’s all about consistency. We all know that thinking about making a change is different from actually going out and doing something about it. Whether someone is thinking about losing weight, eating healthy, running a marathon or just incorporating regular exercise in their day-to-day life, it takes commitment and daily determination to successfully effect positive change,” said Lance Armstrong, founder and chairman of the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) and Livestrong.com advisory board chairman, in the press release.

To use the tracker, people simply search for the foods they consume during the day, and the application automatically tallies their calories and shows fat, carbohydrate and protein intake with the touch of a button. Livestrong.com Calorie Tracker for the iPhone and iPod touch provides access to a comprehensive nutrition database of more than 450,000 food items and 2,000 fitness activities. Simply by using their phones, people can also search any physical activity or exercise and instantly calculate the calories they burn each day.

Livestrong.com Calorie Tracker is available free from Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPod touch. Livestrong.com Calorie Tracker application is a free companion tool for members of The Daily Plate at Livestrong.com. Through additional features on Livestrong.com, people can create their own digital fitness diaries, join a support group and learn how the foods they eat impact their overall health, all while staying connected to the information and tools they desire to achieve their goal of leading a happier and healthier life.

The Livestrong.com Calorie Tracker application will be available for preview at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco, where Lance Armstrong will give the opening keynote on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. PST.
