Network World has published a slideshow of Apple devotion expressed via carved vegetation, “Top Mac-o-lanterns from around the Web.”
See it here here.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Martin” for the heads up.]
Killer Robots’ “Jack-O-Lantern” is a Mac OS X Screen Saver that displays a carved 3D pumpkin. The pumpkin is recreated in loving detail right down to the flickering candle inside. Several carving designs are included and you can even create your own to be displayed. No getting your hands dirty carving the real thing. Artificial pumpkin smell not included.
• Mac OS X 10.4 or later (10.4.3 required for shader effects)
• OpenGL compatible video card
MacDailyNews Note: Tested on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. It works as advertised.
“Jack-O-Lantern” Mac OS X Screen Saver is freeware.

The download is still there for the “Halloween Dock App,” even if the developer StimpSoft isn’t. And, it still works fine in Leopard. So, “Halloweenify” your Dock for the season!
All you have to do is download it and launch it, but you can go further. New faces can be added by making black and white PICT files and placing them in the “Faces” folder. Black areas in the picture will show up as a cut-out area on the pumpkin. Keep the images to a size of 94 pixels wide by 94 pixels high (a template is included for making faces). Then launch The Halloween Dock App, choose “Edit > Preferences” from the menu bar, and choose the face you want from the pop-up menu.
You can also set the speed at which the pumpkin light “flickers” by adjusting the “Flicker Speed” slider in the preferences window.
