“Apple next-generation Snow Leopard operating system will introduce a massive re-write of the Mac OS X Finder and debut a new feature called ImageBoot,” Kasper Jade reports for AppleInsider.
“People familiar with matter say the Finder, which currently stands as one of the oldest Carbon-based applications in the Mac OS portfolio, has been completely re-written in the company’s native object-oriented application program environment called Cocoa,” Jade reports.
“When it makes its debut next spring, Snow Leopard will also introduce a third option for disc image-based installation called ImageBoot,” Jade reports. “Based on Apple’s local NetBoot technology, the method will let users boot a Mac simply by placing and launching a disc image on any storage partition outside of the primary partition for which they wish to install copies of Mac OS X.”

I wonder whether Time Machine 2, will allow the user to boot from their time machine backup?
That’s probably the idea Bioness. It would make sense to be able to boot from a time machine backup. If your internal HD goes down.
can someone explain the significance of this switch? “more fluid” is a late vague. will the finder be noticeably faster or what?

— Basic Search in a Finder Window —
For example, open any Folder
Then, in the ‘search window’ in upper right corner
Do a search for …….. oh, anything, the letter “a”
Now ….
The Results we get ?
‘Name’ ‘Type’ ‘Last Opened’
All we get – that’s it – ain’t no more
Now, go to “View” drop down menu
Select “Show View Options” or “command J”
Read what is says – “There are no view options … etc”
What ? “View Options” are not possible ?
Apple, FIX THAT
Return to what we had for years and years and years
At times I want to sort a Search by ‘File Size’ or ‘Comments’
Those are no longer options, are not possible
Dig where I’m coming from ?
