It’s official!
Apple has emailed an invitation to media outlets for a special event to be held in Apple’s Town Hall on the company’s Cupertino campus on Tuesday, October 14th at 10am PDT/ 1pm EDT.
Unlike past invitations, there is little ambiguity in the image. It’s Mac notebook time, folks!
MacDailyNews Note: Congrats to the 54% who answered “yes” to our poll yesterday, “Will Apple debut new Mac notebooks before Halloween?” You were right! (21% voted “no,” 25% voted “don’t know.”)

YES, OH YES!
Thank goodness for thet. We can all stop agonising now. We know it is happening!
I think this is true… Who were the people saying “I call fake!” They’ll have to be punished (not really ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” /> ). Let the world rejoice!
doesnt look very curved to me?
Damn! I’m going to be in S.F. on vacation so was hoping for Moscone!
I forget question marks occasionally… ?
I cannot wait. Failed logic board – (on my current MBP) – be damned! I’m movin’ on up!
Awesome, exciting news! Thank you MDN for letting us know!
4th comment (sorry): thanks for the congratulations. But we still don’t know what the “Brick” is!
Okay, the invite, itself, looks like the glass trackpad rumor is true.
No way this is just a speed bump, they do that with simple press releases and slight changes to the online store. This is gonna be significant redesign.
well, for those who thought the timing of October didnt make sense… just think about it. Apple unloads current stock of MB/MB pros prior to school season for the reasonable purchaser. Then baits those who want something new, when they might have bought one with the MB + free iPod deal. Smart. The stock is up on news. So, i missed my opportunity to get AAPL as low as 82. Oh well… that’s why we do options.
Congrats to “Invitation Day” who informed you yesterday that today would be Invitation Day!

You may be right about the glass trackpad, but how do you get that from just looking at the invitation?
Phew that’s all right then!
Me, sister, daughter, are all standing in line.
Just to be negative … ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
Really underwhelming ad copy there.
“The spotlight turns to notebooks” ???
They’d have been better off with just the image and the date underneath.
omg….omg…..happy-happy-joy-joy.
I loves my Apple. Steve you rock!
Where are the updated Mac Pros?
‘Okay, the invite, itself, looks like the glass trackpad rumor is true.’
Looks like ajust the cover of a laptop to me….
What’s with all the nonsense about timing? The suburban white people who will buy these MacBooks aren’t feeling any economic crunch. They can’t wait to toss the notebook they bought last year in order to get the new one.
You can’t be at Starbucks typing on the last generation MacBook. It’s a faux pas.
@R2
Bite me.
Is that a charcoal colored notebook I see?
yes! they are coming and steve is healthy. i am happy!!
and how about one more thing this time?
‘They’d have been better off with just the image and the date underneath.’
Does the actual invite have that text, or wa it added by the person writing the article?
@R2
You are absolutely right. Us whities cannot wait to junk last years crap. We rich guys have a rep to live up to or else the poor won’t respect and fear us….at least at Starbucks anyway.
The invite itself suggests a trackpad innovation. You can see the inner rectangle that’s about the same shape/size.
