“Research In Motion Ltd. reported profit and sales that missed analysts’ estimates after delaying the release of the BlackBerry Bold phone in the U.S., its biggest market. The shares fell 8.7 percent in late trading,” Vivek Shankar reports for Bloomberg. (RIM reported net income of $495.5 million, or 86 cents a share. Analysts predicted a profit of 87 cents on average, according to a Bloomberg survey. Revenue of $2.58 billion, compared with the average projection of $2.59 billion from analysts.)
“The Bold, a faster version of the BlackBerry e-mail phone, is Research In Motion’s response to Apple Inc.’s updated iPhone,” Shankar reports.

Shankar continues, “Research In Motion, based in Waterloo, Ontario, dropped to $89 in late trading after rising 82 cents to $97.53 at 4 p.m. New York time in Nasdaq Stock Market trading. The shares have dropped 14 percent this year.”

The BlackBerry can stand up by itself in a pile of dog crap, no stand needed. That is what it can do.

MEgaME – my blackberry does the following while my iPhone does not:
1. PIN messaging? i.e. free sms messages between blackberries
2. two days of battery life on my Bold. How many hours do you get on your 3G iPhone? barely a day?
3. Push email from any imap email system? push email on gmail?

1 Its main function is email, and some people prefer it for email over the iPhone.
2 Some people prefer BB physical keyboard. My mom’s friend claims she couldn’t use the iPhone with long fingernails.
3 It can do MMS which some people like
4 it’s not locked to 1 carrier.
5 BB can cut and paste.
I own and prefer an iPhone but the Blackberry has its fanbase too.
BlackBerry = crack head toy phone and is very lame in this new era of real phones.

Those are pretty big things to someone who is looking for a device for business usage primarily. No doubt if you want to browse the internet / listen to music and watch video the iphone is the way to go.
Admins are mostly pc cracker heads and need to familiarize themselves with real word users and their phones. Crackberries are for button fondling freaks.

All of our iPhones 3g range from 10 to 16 seconds for emails. That guy with a 15 minute lag time must be snorting some bad stuff. – Or don’t know how to see if he has mail?
The people trading stocks are so stoopid (sic). RIM is faring bad b/c of Apple but the bad fortunes of RIM are translated as doom and gloom for the whole smart phone industry and therefore it drags AAPL stock down. So AAPL will be discounted even further tomorrow morning and this is why I placed an order to buy AAPL at $126. When El Jobso releases new laptops the stock price will be higher, I will sell AAPL and buy a new shiny notebook with monies just earned on stock volatility. If my prophecy will not fulfill I will become a long-term shareholder and convince myself I did the right thing anyway
