AT&T CTO admits carrier unprepared for Apple iPhone 3G success

“AT&T chief technology officer John Donovan last week confirmed the US carrier had been unprepared for the US success of the iPhone 3G,” Jonny Evans reports for Macworld UK.

“Speaking at the Goldman Sachs technology conference last week, Donovan admitted that the network had seen demand for 3G services in some areas exceed expectation to the point AT&T was forced to build up capacity,” Evans reports.

  1. As a researcher, I look at anecdotal data with a jaundice eye, particularly as my experience with my iPhone 3g has been nothing but excellent.

    Consequently, I take the following over much of the comment that permeate these blogs, particularly since many come for the same people, many of whom don’t even have the product is question or service in question.

    “The latest rankings from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) show that Apple has dramatically outpaced its rival computer makers in the hearts of U.S. consumers,” reports Asher Hawkins (forbes.com). The ACSI survey “ranks Apple at 85” out of 100, “11 points above the computer-maker industry average.” In fact, “Apple’s rating is also an all-time high for the computer industry.”
