So does it actually work well enough now that it would be feasible to buy?
It’s still too expensive for me to use to fix family and friends computers – by remoting in – would love to be able to do that.

Use iChat and have them invite you to take over their computer.
I thought ARD was built into 10.5?
No. Just screen sharing and that only uses VNC.
Why not try Log Me In? It is free and works great! It has vastly improved itself in the last year and is definitely worth the look… http://www.logmein.com I use it for the office as well as for private purposes. One can even set up group log in ids and manage computer groups. Really useful.
@pocketRocket
Just go to “Connect to Server…” and enter:
vnc://your.firends.ip.address
(allow for firewalls and routers, of course)
you guys can use ichat screen sharing to fix computers not on your network. i use it all the time for family and friends. and it works well.
Installed it, but it won’t upgrade the client computers. Boo!
@Tony Same problem here. File Transfer Error! Yay…
