New Mexico school system begins rolling out 2,375 Apple MacBooks to students and teachers

“Hundreds of middle school students and their parents crowded into Piedra Vista High School on Monday afternoon to receive free laptops, courtesy of Farmington Municipal Schools,” G. Jeff Golden reports for The Daily Times (Farmington, New Mexico).

“This is the first year the Farmington Learning Initiative, an ambitious program that provides Apple MacBooks for all district middle school students, is being instituted,” Golden reports.

“The Apple MacBooks come equipped with a 160 gigabyte hard drive, 2 gigabytes of RAM, a wireless internet adapter and a built-in camera. There are many programs pre-installed, all educational, from internet browsers to e-mail applications to multimedia software,” Golden reports.

  1. The glowing logo in the little lambs’ hands. “I believe that children are the future…Teach them well and let them lead the way…”

I always liked the original George Benson version better than the Whitney Houston cover version.

    Peace.

  2. No, I think DMania knew exactly what he was saying. New Mexico schools are completely inundated with illegal alien children siphoning the districts money away from the tax paying parents of the legitimate children. Only the parasitic attack on the health care institutions by the illegals is worse in this State. I hope Apple Inc. got the cash up front.

  3. Nick Fury,

My post was made under the assumption DMania had mistaken New Mexicans for Mexicans. I was being sarcastic.

I guess now I can expect to be lambasted for hating Hispanics. I should have known better.

  4. Folks,

DMania & Gill Bates were lampooning various politicians and other individuals within our US government who have stated that New Mexico is not part of the US. So it’s a joke that they were making.

Maybe some of you need to read more than MacDailyNews for your current events news.

  5. IT is well known, a blooper that John McCain made a while back, when he said that illegal New Mexicans should be sent back home. Republicans are all ignorant, don’t care about studying geography, they just want to start wars and kiss the military’s ass.

  6. a lot of people, including people with advanced degrees, don’t know that new mexico is part of the u.s. it is a long, long running joke here in new mexico. there has been an ongoing column in a local magazine called “one of our 50 is missing”. one of our former governors was once told by a treasury dept offcial (who had a ph.d. i believe) that if he wanted to cash in some bonds he needed a u.s. mailing address. this happened back when the treasurer of the u.s., whose signature appears on currency, was from new mexico and the senator in charge of the committee that oversaw the treasury dept was from new mexico.
