Microsoft Windows Blue Screen of Death strikes Olympic opening ceremonies

“Well this is just perfect. At the exact moment Li Ning was rounding the lip of the Bird’s Nest during the amazing torch-lighting climax, someone snapped this photo of our good friend the BSOD nestled amongst the Nest’s steel twigs,” John Mahoney reports for Gizmodo.

MacDailyNews Take: 2008 Olympic Games dump unstable, unreliable Windows Vista – August 16, 2007.
Obviously, they should’ve dumped Windows altogether.

“If only one image of this perfectness existed, we’d be dubious, but thankfully, someone has grabbed more from a different angle.,” Mahoney reports.

Microsoft Windows. For when you absolutely, positively don’t give a shit whether it works or not.

  1. What do you expect from a company that has to use an idea like Mohave to trick people into using their product. I have never seen anything so stunningly absurd in my life.

    Our Bad Software, Your Olympics.

  2. Sadly enough but windows is the only OS where people are developping display manager system and multi-screen projection.

Too bad, mac can’t do anything here. Those softwares developers just don’t exist on the mac platform

  3. Dug through the comments and found someone who had it on DVR and confirmed it’s presence, for a very short time (less then a minute). As mentioned all of these things would have backups running at the same point to be switched over if anything happens.

  4. Just another example of the shit Redmond defecates out to the masses of lemmings around the world. Maybe Microsoft should borrow from UPS’ slogan – “What can Brown Do for You? – or how about some Blue?”

Hopefully IT is getting the message and will be demanding more enterprise-centric apps that run on OS X.

  5. The Chinese government went through the trouble of creating their own Linux distribution, Red Flag. Why the hell didn’t they use that instead? It can run on Lenovo just as easily as Windows can.

  6. Good.

I see Windows fanboys on blog comments saying that the BSOD is a thing of the past and no longer happens. That shit happens all the time to me with PCs at work.

Now maybe this will shut them up.

  7. Walk down nearly any street in Beijing, and you’ll hear, “CD-ROM, DVD?” Ah, the hawking of pirated warez. Instead of going after people who make money pirating, lets go after the kids in their dorm rooms exchanging a few songs.

Oh, how I love the DMCA and the US legal system.

Good for the Olympics too, for picking such a crappy country for the `08 Summer Olympics anyway.

  8. ‘everybody knows that the good guys lost’

Windows is a prime example of all that is wrong in our world. Thoughtless drones in 1950’s suits and bad haircuts making decisions when they should be cleaning the washrooms and sorting the mail.

OTOH, I am glad that the corrupt killers known as the ‘Chinese govt’
looked like the thick incompetent fools that they are.

Its ALL political – its called the endless battle between right and wrong.

    Which side are YOU on?

  9. We Mac Fanboys just don’t get it (well, I get it, but most of us don’t): The rest of the world think this is NORMAL!! “This is the way computers are supposed to work.” Or at least “well, this is the way it’s always been.” The poor slobs simply don’t know that there’s anything better out there…

Well, maybe one day (“Oh, THIS is the way it’s supposed to be? So easy? So reliable?”)…

  10. I must agree with MacMan. To the world of PC users, this is standard operating procedure. It’s like an oil change, a normal maintenance task that you’ve lived with for so long. They would only know it’s a bad thing if Apple told them with $500 million in anti-BSOD “Get a Mac” advertising.

  11. The thing is, I use and love macs and osx and my mac crashes too…especially when i run the adobe creative suite…and dont get me started on how often my iphone 3g crashes or reboots itself…

ragging on windows about it crashing is such silly childs play/taunting

  12. @Radius

    Easy answer.

Don’t get me wrong, I am mac guy.

Shows all over the world are touring with windows system under their skin (Madonna, Cher, Coldplay, Radiohead, Celine Dion, …) and MacIntosh isn’t even an option. It just don’t exist. Maybe little fanboy like you are too busy masturbating in front of the Apple store instead of developing…
