“Apple in recent days issued an advisement bulletin to some of its channel partners hinting at a manufacturing ramp down of iPods and certain Mac notebook models, which will result in limited supplies of those products in the coming weeks,” Kasper Jade reports for AppleInsider.
“Apple ‘strongly suggested’ that resellers bring in — or place immediate lump orders for — approximately 4 weeks worth of their top selling iPod models… [and] at least 3 weeks worth of orders for existing Mac notebook models,” Jade reports. “Apple is said to have specifically identified 13-inch MacBooks and 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pros, but made no mention of the MacBook Air.”

Yay first comment! Come on with the full announcement!
Good news! When’s the next keynote?
Keynote, schmee note, I just want to know when in the next two weeks Apple is going to roll-out its updated notebooks.
Product transition coming?
This leads further credence to the rumor that new notebooks are coming soon. I am thinking of getting a mac pro though…wonder if it is safe to buy?
PowerBook G5?
@NCIceman:
It’s always safe to buy a Mac. You can probably get a good deal from places like MacMall (I’ve been getting emails from them with Mac sales lately).
The big issue is whether you’ll have buyer’s remorse when the new Macs come out. However, it doesn’t look like your Mac Pro is affected by the shortage announcement, just laptops and iPods.
Outlook good.
@NCIceman
I would wait until the new notebooks are available – if you want an existing notebook that is- I am sure the older models price will fall when the new ones hit the stores. All this is based on the assumption that the notebooks are going to change.
@Tyler
You are an idiot who can’t read – NCIceman said Mac Pro – Not a MacBook Pro…
Disregard what I said in the previous post…
Apple’s of course ramping down a lot of their product. They need the warehouse space to ramp up the production of the soon to be announced iTele, Apple’s teleportation system for the consumer. The iTele will finally bring intergalactic teleportation for the masses.
LADIES & GENTLEMEN
AAPL is going to fall to $15 a share very soon.

@Tyler,
Wow, you were a little rough on yourself.
And you base this on…?
Stock market has to crash this August 22nd 2008.
there is no reason for it not to.
This doesn’t matter much to me. I have given up on the iPhone and the Touch because I have not been able to run CP/M on them. I tried loading it onto the iPhone after hacking it, but the thing locked up. What a piece of junk! No CP/M = No iPhone for me!!!!!
@JoshtheiMacGuy
Hahaha that was funny.
Just as long as Apple doesn’t pay them an arm and a leg for it.
D’Ohhh! That was supposed to go on the ARM thread.
Oh well……
They’re coming! They’re coming!
Shield your eyes to the brightness, prepare for battle, pocket books to the ready! Charge it!
“A report from AppleInsider earlier this week also provided an update on the company’s redesigned MacBook and MacBook Pros, noting that shipments were unlikely for at least another 6 to 8 weeks.”
That is a freakin’ eternity!!!
OK, I have to admit that I am waiting for an updated Touch and also a cheaper Touch. I notice that Apple is giving Touchs away when a student buys a computer. So…….. if they can only get the dang thing to run CP/M it would be perfect.
I would also like the new Touch to be able to power my USB barbeque.
No surprise on the portables. iMacs seem due for a back-to-school refresh.
This is getting bad, first I need to wait for the iPhone (still waiting), and now I will need to start wating for a new MacBook, then iPod, then iMac, and I will probably never get anything because it’s not available when I need it.
But hey, local store is advertising 1147€ MacBook MB402 for 999€ including wired Mighty Mouse, Tucano 2nd skin and extra 2GB RAM stick. Something is going on…
