Apple has released iTunes 7.7 and also launched the App Store in some countries. More countries are expected to come online shortly.
Use iTunes 7.7 to sync music, video, and more with iPhone 3G, and download applications from the iTunes Store exclusively designed for iPhone and iPod touch with software version 2.0 or later. Also use the new Remote application for iPhone or iPod touch to control iTunes playback from anywhere in your home — a free download from the App Store.
iTunes 7.7 is available via Software Update (but, not, for some reason, via iTunes “Check for Updates.” Go figure).
iTunes 7.7 is also available via Apple’s website here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
so it begins!
I already “bought” some apps: myspace mobile and remote.
Can’t wait to use my iPhone/iPod Touch as remote. (killerapp!!!) ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />
I think I may be the first person in the world to download an iPhone App….
That’s right, IT WORKS!!! ^_^
(In the UK at least ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />)
FYI, to browse the app store you need to go to Applications, then in the bottom right, Get More Applications…
Not entirely obvious right now, but I suspect that will change.
Dammit IKON! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”tongue laugh” style=”border:0;” />
I was still pretty early though! Now I just need the 2.0 update…
@Richie_mofo: sorry, but you still might be the first to download the 2.0 update, but be quick. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />
In related news, .Mac (mac.com) is down! Mobile Me?
@Apple Guy: me.com was up for some time, seems to be down again, at least in Belgium it is. I really hope Europe will get a speed update too, but I do not trust it will.
Sweeeeeeet.
I don’t have an option to download applications (USA Store) Where are you finding this?
Bought some apps already, now all we need is the 2.0 update.
@NOFX: macrumors.com has som direct links. Happy downloading!
Perhaps this is a dumb question but am wondering about the iTunes update. It says that it works exclusively with the 2.0 software. If that is the case, how will it work before the 2.0 software is available?
Im deployed out here to Africa – no update yet. Still shows 7.6 on the website, and ‘no updates’ via Software Update. Grrrr
Never mind, I just realized I had not read the entire explanation.” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />
What, no announcement about Apple’s own app, Remote, which remote controls iTunes/AppleTV…
I’m sure those weenies at Engadget will still rip on the AppleTV, but they are just a bunch of haters.
No, if only I had iPhone OS X 2.0, I could use it! Horse before the cart, it is…
Spain’s app store is on
KICK ASS… now if only .Ma…. err, MobileMe gets up and running, it’ll be perfect.
Good variety of apps, most are quite reasonably priced. A few seem rather costly. I suppose the developers of these latter ones expect them to be pirated sooner rather than later. What are you thoughts on pricing?
Portugal is working to
No, .mac just sucks. It’s probably down for this reason.
Let’s hope MobileMe doesn’t have the problems.
Until I realized I wasn’t the only one who could see/search/download apps but when checking for iPhone software update was told that my version 1.1.4 was current. WTF?
Ok, so you can buy apps, but you can’t use them. Strange. But I guess with the 24-hour globe and a huge international release, there are bound to be some oddities.
I am in the USA, FWIW.
On another note, I got the mobile me updater but now it’s offline. I guess there’s not a cloud in the sky this morning.
Uh… ok… So, I software updated, and got the latest version of iTunes. Yet, when I hook up my iPhone, and click ‘check for updates’, noting happens and it tells me im up to date. wtf.
Or, is Florida not part of The App Plan.
Just downloaded 7.7 – and the App store is not in the US version. Maybe tomorrow…?
In iTunes 7.7, just search for App Store. It’s there.
