On the company’s Apple Store Fifth Avenue webpage, Apple has announced:
To get ready for the iPhone 3G launch, we will be closing at midnight on July 10 and will re-open at 8 a.m. on July 11.
Apple Store Fifth Avenue is normally open 24/365.
Store address, map, schedules, and more here.

How is closing between midnight and 8 AM “close temporarily”?
Well duh…they have to do some sort of set-up/visuals night…why is this news? Come on MDN!
I’m wondering why there’s no midnight release here in the U.S. like a blockbuster or Harry Potter or PS3? ‘Cause Apple doesn’t want fevered fans start calling up all the iPhone-less people at 1 or 2 AM to gloat and create a negative image?
as for “late midnight launches” I would imagine, as most Apple Stores are inside of shopping malls, and not free-standing buildings that is the reason why they start selling in the morning instead of night. Who knows, it could just be because Steve wants to sleep lol.
