Peter… this is far from cheap! Especially for Mexicans. While there is a growing middle class there thanks to Costco, WalMart, HomeDepot, etc. the majority of Mexicans are still poor. Which totally disgusts me considering Carlos Slim is the richest man in the world now… in a third world country!! Is there not something wrong with this? There is not one reason for Mexico to be poor. They should be having a booming economy! Plus go check out prices for Macs, TVs, electronics in Mexico… a MacBook Air was $2600 US!!!! I know… my Mom lives there and when we visit, its nuts on the prices!

Let’s ignore the fact that salaries in Mexico don’t compare with those in developed countries and just take the prices at face value.
The most disappointing thing about the plan is the amount of bandwidth assigned, ranging from 100 MB to 200MB for the most expensive. While I’m not sure how much bandwidth people will be using on a 3G iPhone, I’m pretty sure it’ll exceed 200MB – especially if they’re using all the new features that are coming out with iPhone 2.0.
Personally, I’m not impressed with the plans and am debating whether to get an iPhone or not.

There are a couple of things that should be noted about these plans. First, the additional MB are quite expensive, it’s about US$4 per MB over your limit. I’m guessing there will be some people who will end up with insane charges because they went over their limit. It should also be noted that if you add about US$50 to any of those plans you get unlimited data. So if you get the first plan and unlimited data, then the price is not THAT bad. However they don’t seem to be advertising this option much around the website, probably because they’re trying to take advantage of users who go over their data limits.
@eyerhyme: Actually things have got a lot better lately, specially with Apple related products. Since the Mexican Apple store was introduced you can now get Apple products at almost the same price you would pay in the US.
I live in Mexico, so I can say this: you have to convert not only from pesos to Dollars but also make some other adjustments:
a) Minutes

In Mexico, by law, you are ONLY charged for OUTgoing calls, so 400 mexican minutes could be as much as 800 US Minutes, yes 400 does equal 800, sometimes
b) Cost of Equipment
As some others have pointed out, the difference in Mexico for electronic equipment (thanks to the many free trade agreements Mexico has signed) is just usually the VAT (IVA) Tax, which is 15%, and in many cases TAX deductible.
And second, if you are already a customer for a given company (I am a Telcel customer) you accumulate “points” that are exchanged for equipment at contract renewal time, most of the time you can get a new phone for free just using these points, yes… I doubt my points will give me a free iPhone, I will check how much of a discount I´ll get.
c) Data Plans
There is currently a unlimited data plan($55 USD), that adds to your current voice plan, I guess this is a better option for me, but i will have to check if they (Telcel) would let me have this option…with the iPhone.

The page for the plans for the iPhone even suggests that you get an unlimited data plan in small letters at the bottom, so they’ll probably let you use it with the iPhone.
Any kind of reciprocal agreements in play? That is, if I get an iPhone in the States on ATT’s network, can I use it to make calls on Telcel’s network in México?
Do the Mexican iPhones have built-in GPS waypoints showing the way across the US border? The Mexican govt will probably subsidize them, in that case, and they’ll be affordable for everyone.
