“We have received some new information regarding Apple’s Macbook and Macbook Pro models, which have been long overdue for a design overhaul. Although the current case design is nearly flawless on both, rumors have continued to circulate about complete case refreshes for both machines,” Aviv reports for MacBlogz.
“We have spoken with a connected source close to us, and they tell us that the Macbook Pro will, ‘100% have a Macbook Air-like keyboard. Feeling more like the Macbook’s current keyboard, yet offering backlight,'” Aviv reports.
“We asked about the track-pad but they shrugged it off as if it was no big deal. Almost indicating that the current track-pad might be sufficient in Apple’s opinion. We also asked if they could confirm a launch date, to no avail,” Aviv reports. “We think it would only make sense for the Macbook Pro to inherit the Air’s track-pad. And based on Apple’s past history, the end-of-the-summer (right before school starts) launch date seems pretty accurate.”

Oh please god no. The Mac Book Pro’s keyboard is the best laptop keyboard I’ve ever used. The Air and MacBook’s sucks. PLEASE don’t do this.

I prefer the keyboard on my PowerBook – which is the same as the MBP. Better than on my MB.
If they want to make the most important design change needed on the MBP they will add mag latch. The current latching design is “elegant”, but I need to get the third latch for my PB. That was the main reasons why I went with a MB on the last purchase.
I also prefer the current MacBook Pro’s keyboard. The current MBP is pretty much perfect, any changes made going forward will mostly be aesthetic at this point.
The button’s in a different place and size, but not better or worse just different. It’s easy to hit, but if you have habits from a different trackpad obviously you will notice this at first. Same would be true if you were used to an Air and moved to a Pro. Whatever your habits are, you’ll like that better than something different–for a time.
2 things:
1 – the new style keyboards on the MBA and iMacs look nice but the current MBPro keyboards are better for typing so I’ll be slightly disappointed to see them go as I’ve been holding out on buying for the new revised models.
2 – is there any way to get rid of or block this a-hole ‘Ho,ho’? The fuckers more annoying than piles!
