Piper Jaffray expects Apple to sell up to 11 million iPod units in June quarter

“Apple will have shipped between 10.5 to 11 million iPods by the end of the June quarter, say analysts with Piper Jaffray,” iPodNN reports.

“The data is significant in that while a 6 percent sequential decline for the quarter would normally be predicted, amounting to 10 million iPods, Apple may be set for a 1 percent quarter-to-quarter increase, translating to a 9.5 percent growth year-over-year,” iPodNN reports.

MacDailyNews Note: Apple’s fiscal year 2008 runs from September 30, 2007 to September 27, 2008. Apple is due to report the compay’s fiscal Q3 08 earnings results in late July. Piper Jaffray rates Apple Inc (AAPL) a “Buy” with a $250 price target.

  1. These Piper Jaffray sissies are on the dopey I-Pod bandwagon. It’s why they don’t have the guts to release Zune sales expectations because Zune is trouncing I-Pod for the June quarter. Consumers aren’t stupid. No FM, No squirt, No I-Pod.

    Your potential. Our passion.™

  2. @ Zune Tang

Zune out selling the iPod that’s rich.. Can’t have sales expectations if there are no sales. MS has to sell a Zune before there is an expectation of sales.

Who Seriously want to carrie around any product that SQUIRTS, and FM Radio is dead.

  3. @Mad Mac Maniac
What are you talking about? A split will not change any values. I presume you today have got more than 1 share. Start play with them today.

A split will not happen in the foreseeable future. And that’s a good thing.

  4. Spark, are you OK?

As “Me” has already stated, Jaffray’s prediction is about iPods, not iPhones. OK? iPods, not iPhones. The 11 million figure is well within previous and current iPod stats and nowhere near “wild.”

  5. Spark and Famous Grouse (a nice whisky for acquaintances, but nothing you’d give to real friends)…

6 million iPhones cumulative to date.

11 million iPods in Q3/08 alone.

    Different products, different stats.

Seriously FG, if you’re drinking that much of it you need to step away from the bar.
