Apple’s Fortune: What to expect from Steve Jobs on June 9th

“Thursday was a red-letter day for 3G iPhone rumors. On Wall St., the ‘rumor of a rumor’ of an iPhone delay was enough to drive Apple (AAPL) share prices down about 5 points in midafternoon trading,” Philip Elmer-DeWitt blogs for Fortune. “Meanwhile, a dozen subway stops to the north, a line 60 customers deep had formed spontaneously outside the company’s flagship Fifth Avenue store. According to Engadget, at least some of the people in the queue thought the new iPhone had already arrived.”

Elmer-DeWitt writes, “So it was refreshing to receive a note to clients from Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster on Friday morning with some sensible advice about what to expect when Steve Jobs takes the stage at Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference on June 9.”

According to Munster, look for:
• Next-gen iPhone
• iPhone 2.0 software
• Focus on Mac and iPhone integration
• New MacBooks

Elmer-DeWitt writes, “Munster believes that Apple is planning a worldwide release of the new phones in mid-June.”

Please folks remember that WWDC is a “developers” conference with two bridges this year… so there must be two presentations unless one is a bridge too far.

    Cheers!

  2. Apple could announce cordless AC/DC current on June 9th and
the stock will still tank regardless.
The pundits already have a basket of multiple negative headlines to choose from…no iChat, no internal GPS, no 3g in North Dakota, no replaceable battery, no back scratcher, nose and bellybutton picker, no colors, etc…

  3. Aaarrrggghhh!!! I can’t stand all this waiting, been waiting since the iPhone first came out. Start selling it worldwide already will you Steve? I got some cash waiting here to exchange for my very own iPhone! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

  4. I am surprised that no one included “The Next Big Cat” on the list of guesses. Sure, iPhone and iPhone SDK are the big talk right now, but Apple is still a computer company and they already released Leopard 7 months ago. Apple must have worked on Mac OS X 10.6 already. While the details won’t be disclosed as always, Apple should clue in the developers of what to expect for their next feline and WWDC is a perfect place for that.

  5. That’s what I like about Gene Munster his shrewdness

    • Next-gen iPhone
    • iPhone 2.0 software
    • Focus on Mac and iPhone integration
    • New MacBooks
Munster believes that Apple is planning a worldwide release of the new phones in mid-June.”

Wow we would never have guessed that. Hmm let’s see was there a clue that every telecom operator on the planet has signed up a deal and spilt the beans already.

Munster – You were last with what is common knowledge

  6. I didn’t like how I watched stock drop $7 a share this week in one day… I really like when it went up to 191… I look forward to it going past 200. Though I believe it will be tough to predict once it hits 200… lots of people will sell to make back what they bought into last year at 200 in fear it will drop. I see if it passes 210 all will be good. 😀 A 2:1 split would be nice… a 3:1 would be very much appreciated too
