“SiiTE Interactive, a New York-based creative marketing agency, said it’s developing a range of iPhone [and iPod touch] applications for clients and just for experimentation. One is for a yogurt chain interested in SiiTE’s idea for mobile coupons,” David Needle reports for InternetNews.com.
“The concept is that iPhone user will be able to mix a virtual smoothie, picking, say vanilla yogurt, strawberries and other ingredients on the screen. Once the ingredients are selected, the consumer can literally shake the iPhone to ‘blend’ up the drink they want (software written for the iPhone’s accelerometer lets the device respond appropriately to the shaking),” Needle reports. “Then the consumer can go to the yogurt shop any time with their iPhone and have an on-screen bar code scanned to receive the discount.”
“‘It can be a channel to keep you connected to the company,’ Alan Ruthazer, CEO of SiiTE Interactive, told InternetNews.com,” Needle reports. “‘It’s a fun thing to show off to your friends and we think it can be an effective form of viral marketing.'”
A few other ideas being cooked up by SiiTE for the iPhone include an ‘Origami-gram,’ an illuminator for rock concerts and a virtual juice squeezer.Full article here.
Once a large app library of these kinds of innovative apps has been developed for the iPhone and iPod touch, it will only secure their place as the leaders of the next digital revolution.
Just think when this can be added to Microsoft’s Table, now that will be “wow”.
might need a few friends with you to shake the table

How cool is that! Saving trees due to no paper coupons AND being able to get your coupon (no more forgetting it at home). Plus, think of the fun your kids will have making us smoothies. On the other hand, think of how many smoothies you’ll buy just because the coupon is too cool!
I hope many of Apple’s 200+ patents covers the accelerometer and other motion-input sensors. That would effectively bar any competitors from coming close to what the iPhone/iPod Touch will offer once these apps are released.
K, you seem to have beaten ZT to the droll … now we have two?

This sort of thing is likely to take the iPhone a step beyond mere Smart Phones. Break the mold, so to speak. So … WHY did it take Apple so many months to bring out the SDK? Oh, right, capturing the early adopters with a minimum of effort.
This is going to raise the price of my AAPL shares something fierce, I’m glad to say. Hang on tight, guys and gals, it’s gonna be a RIDE!
oh i am just praying for a Jamba Juice coupon like that. i hope they hear about it….
@ DLMeyer… consider me one of the easily captured early adopters — and dang please about it, too. The iPhone was and is worth it, even without the SDK.
Barring competitors and consumers from a technology, would cause the competors of that technology to think “monopoly” if it were to become dominant.
I-Phone Apps? So what.
Microsoft is dying to get into social networking and I believe their magnificent and revolutionary Surface is just the ticket. An over served bar patron can stumble into a Surface table with virtual drinks and Microsoft’s innovative and soon to be patented spillarometer technology will tip the drink over and present you with the following options:
• Pick a fight with the moron who spilled the virtual drink,
• Insult the girlfriend of the moron who spilled the virtual drink,
• SMS your phone number to the moron who spilled the virtual drink.
Pretty cool. The possibilities are endless. As usual Apple doesn’t have a clue.
Your potential. Our passion.™
shaken, not stirred.
Stupid lame marketing blah! Nothing like putting more ads everywhere. I’d rather not be marketed to constantly. That’s why I use adblock.
Shaken may be alright
But I prefer to know if can blend…
“if it can blend” is what I meant.
The ‘it’ was silent, as in ‘sh..’
This is such a cool idea.
And thousands of bouncing boobs are on the way. Love your iPhone. Just don’t loooooovvvvve your iPhone.
