Apple Store Rockingham Park employees charged with theft of 332 iPhones

“Two men employed to sell iPhones at the Apple Computer Store in the Mall at Rockingham Park [Salem, New Hampshire] went into business for themselves, stealing 332 of them before being caught by their bosses, police said,” James A. Kimble reports for The Eagle-Tribune.

“Police yesterday arrested Joshua Garrand, 28, of Methuen, Mass., and Christopher Nashed, 22, of Sandown on felony theft charges of stealing $132,468 worth of the popular computer phone and reselling them on the black market, police said,” Kimble reports.

“Garrand and Nashed were taken into custody at their homes yesterday afternoon without incident,” Kimble reports.

“Investigators were first contacted by the store in early January. Salem police Sgt. Steve Malisos dug through store records and spent three months on the case,” Kimble reports.

“Deputy police Chief William Ganley said the department has dealt with a lot of employee thefts over the years, but nothing comparable to the iPhone case,” Kimble reports.

  1. Next thing you know they are going to give the judge some story that they did not know what they were doing because back in Kosovo they had to help Mrs. Clinton dodge sniper fire. Hence, traumatizing them for life.

    Just my $0.02

No one ever STEALS Zunes? Nobody ever even SEES Zunes.

I take that back. I once saw a girl using a pink Zune on the subway. I felt sorry for her.

These guys stole from a New Hampshire store, eh? It’s the backwater of New England guys, WHAT were you thinking! They’ll get the stocks or pillory in the town square. Maybe even burnt at the stake. It is HERESY to steal from Apple.
    Ooops, that’s the OTHER Salem…

  3. Off topic, so Hillary stated that she says millions of words a day and that justifies her slip of the tongue, well that means she can say something like “let’s kill social security” and that will be OK because she said million of unimportant things about something else.

  4. Their bosses aren’t the brightest bulbs in the pack and should be fired immediately!

Even if these two clowns began stealing phones in the month the iPhone made its retail debut, they would have had to siphon off 50 phones each month before their bosses finally caught on!

I can understand dealing with, and stopping shrink, is problematic for any manager if you can’t uncover a downward inventory trend. But come on! 50 phones a month?

It’s obvious Apple has a systemic problem in their accountability procedures and this problem should have surfaced during the first quarterly-after-hours-nobody-goes-home-till-its-done-inventory.

    Maroons!

  5. Hmmm…I bought my Macbook at Rockingham. No sales tax in NH. It’s full of hip-hop teens. Not my favorite store at all. It took me almost 30mins to buy a MB, as they asked me loads of questions, and tried to sell me a dotMac account, even though I already have one. I can’t tell you how annoyed I got, even after I explained to them, I only wanted a MB, and nothing else, and had been buying and using Macs since 1987. But the young saleswoman, with the piercings and pink hair just get going thru her script. Annoying.

  6. I use to catch thieves for a living in a retail setting.
It does not take 3 months to figure out who is stealing or build a rock solid case against them.
At most, it takes about 2 weeks.

Since this was the police doing the investigation-they probably allowed the theft to continue for several weeks in the hopes it would lead to something bigger(organized theft ring).
