Apple today announced that they will unveil their iPhone SDK plans on March 6, including tools for third-party developers and some “exciting new features” aimed at businesses.
Apple’s invitation to the media reads:
Please join us to learn about the iPhone software roadmap, including the iPhone SDK and some exciting new enterprise features.
MacDailyNews Note: Back in October, Apple CEO Steve Jobs posted an open letter that stated in part, “Let me just say it: We want native third party applications on the iPhone, and we plan to have an SDK in developers’ hands in February.” For those keeping score, if the iPhone SDK is delivered on March 6 (not just discussed along with an announcement of a later release date), Jobs was off by six days.
less than a week isn’t so bad of a delay…!
“less than a week isn’t so bad of a delay…!”
Color me pessimistic, but they may just be announcing the “roadmap.” It doesn’t mean that they’ll actually be handing out the SDK that day. Steve gets up on stage and talks about the SDK and then says, “…and it’ll be available in June.”
Anyway, I’m just patiently waiting for it. Hope they give me access to bluetooth…
I am surely looking forward to Zune Tang™ to grace us with his usual odoriferous musings on the topic at hand.

” . . . exciting new enterprise features.”
The final frontier.
One week late. Oh no the world is going to end!
The quaking iPhone wannabe makes just got another free week to work on their crappy products. Doesn’t matter really, they will all scramble to Windows Mobile since catch up time is now impossible and Microsoft is more than happy to give them Windows Mobile to power their devices. Good news for iPhone users.
I’ve seen that map before. Isn’t the town of SDK somewhere between French Lick, Indiana and Blue Ball, Pennsylvania?
Ampar,
You were close, Intercourse, PA…
Wait a minute. That was the town of STD. Not SDK. Sorry.
I wonder if Neil Sedaka has an SDK vanity plate?
It’s actually near Big Bone Lick, Kentucky.
You’re either on time or late.
After all these months, it’s quite embarrassing for Apple to have missed the mark by six days.
Once again, Apple is late. Is anyone keeping track of how many times this has happened? Or do you just assume at this point that being late is part of their business plan.
And where is Time Capsule?! Not even a peep? Really??
“Big Bone Lick, Kentucky” Where wi-fi is just plain unnecessary.
But it’s still a long way from Dildo, Newfoundland to Climax, Michigan.
YES!!!!!!!
YYYYYYYYYEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
FUCK YEAH!
I hate whiners.
I suspect that the SDK is already in the hands of many a developer actually.
March 6??? That’s the birthday of basketball star Shaquille O’Neal!!!
Unfortunately, it sounds like this is a discussion of the SDK roadmap and possibly the introduction of some new features (or maybe just plans for new features).
I think Apple’s stock is about to get hammered because the iPhone SDK isn’t going to be ready. I hope I’m wrong.
Apple’s stock can get hammered for a real reason and not just plain foolishness?
Say it ain’t so bizlaw.
Apple stocks being hammered today is a buying opportunity.
@Hano
Zune Tang is a chick!!!
Scary Yea?!!!
iPhone is to be Google Android compatible.
“Apple stocks being hammered today is a buying opportunity.”
being hammered today? Apple is up almost 2%.
@NewYorkRules says: “You’re either on time or late.”
Oh what BS! Like there’s no difference between being a week late and a year late.
This is called black and white thinking. You’re either good or bad. You’re either great or terrible. You’re either brilliant or a moron. In the real world there are lots of shades of gray. And ignoring gradations by imposing simplistic “either-or” thinking degrades rather than enhances analysis.
Maybe it is already in some developers hands in Feb… those with nda’s that is.
The stock drops a dollar for every day it’s late. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />
