[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Fred Mertz” for the heads up.]
Cool but the most neaningful update to come this year, is the one that will make it fully compatible with the upcoming Mac Touch Tablet or whatever you wanna call it… anyway, somekind of iPod Touch, larger display, web browsing on the go, e-book, document, music, movies, video… no laptop, no PDA has ever been there.
“addresses compatibility with Mac OS X”
I’m glad they’re working with the right OS.
Yeah, Software update started bouncing on my dock, but I just ignored it and didn’t download the updates. Couldn’t be bothered to.
This is probably about compatibility with 10.5.2. Maybe we’ll see a big update by Friday?
Usual practice. They send updates of some apps out ahead of the full OS update. Expect it tomorrow, day after, latest.
It’s all much snappier now…
I hope this resolves the Helvetica Neue issue many people have been having since Leopard upgrade.
Did I tell you that I could also max out – as in bring to a dead standstill – my McPro with any of the iWork or iLife apps? To say nothing about something really powerful such as Final Cut Pro (or even Express).
Anytime a company’s software product can overwhelm the same company’s best hardware, it’s time for a hardware update. When are we going to get ours?
Where’s my TV update?
@We’ll See
Um, first Apple released new Mac Pros on Jan 8.
Second, if these apps are bringing your Mac Pro to a standstill, you need to troubleshoot your computer. Check Activity Monitor to see what processes are taking up that much CPU time.

You must driving an 4 year old HP PC.
FreddyThePig, AAPLguy, silverhawk, et al,
Please don’t feed the troll.
@ We’ll See,
Can you be specific (or is it just FUD?)
I’ve got a 3 1/2 year old PowerMac – Dual 2.5 GHz G5 / 4 GB RAM – No problems with iWork, or Final Cut Express…..
individual cell naming would be nice. Christ- you could do this with AppleWorks- somehow it wasn’t incorporated in Number$.
Show stopper for me.
got Pivot tables?
To: We’ll See.
Hum, I’m running iWork on a iMac 1 GHZ with 1 GB RAM, not fast but not slow. Oh, also running iWork 08 on a iBook clamshell 466 with less than a 1/2 GB of RAM, iWork performs reasonably well. Yes I’m running OS X 10.4.11 and MS office 2004 on the iBook as well.
You might want to check your system.
Hope this gets the share price back up $200.
Short selling bastards!
no problem running iWork 08 and Final Cut Pro on my LCII with 8MB of RAM
iWork ’08 SCREAMS on my Apple ][.
Numbers still crashes when trying to export to Excel… ’07 crashed in Tiger, crashed in clean install Leopard environment. ’08 still crashes when exporting…
Dagnabit
Let’s hope that Apple FIXES the AppleWorks import problem.
I cannot import ANY AppleWorks file that has images in it. OR those little spreadsheet objects.
How on earth do they expect people to abandon AppleWorks when the “upgrade” path isn’t complete?
That said, I love Pages and Numbers! Both are VERY nice to work with!
> It’s all much snappier now…
I knew someone had to say it.
Suddenly and without warning, my iWork ’08 suite became cheese-dipped fried red snapper topped with fresh mushrooms, green peppers, celery, onions and tomato sauce. I can’t wait for the next update.
