Gear Live has posted a “iPhone 1.1.3 firmware feature gallery” which shows that Apple’s amazing multi-touch device is soon due to get even better. No release date is known, but we expect it on or before Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ Macworld Expo keynote presentation on Tuesday, January 15, 2008.
Looks like the soon-to-be-released iPhone firmware 1.1.3 has quite a few surprises. We were able to get a look at it, and here is what we found:
• The ability to send an SMS message to multiple people is now there
• Google Maps application can now pinpoint your location using cell tower triangulation [Locate Me]
• Google Maps can now display the Hybrid map view
• You can now drag and drop application icons on your home screen
• The home screen supports pagination
• You can now add web bookmarks to your home screen
Check out Gear Live’s gallery here.

I agree with the cut and paste, it really needs it. MMS would be handy. Also voice dialing, i mean, come on???
But the one thing it has to have, oh please stevie poo, give me GAMES!!! argh!!!
Never heard of Silverlight…but I have heard of Javascript and Flash…I wonder why?
All great, but I still want:
-iChat
-MMS
-Email groups (if it’s there already, I haven’t found it)
Yes, please, copy and paste – we need this! Games would be nice too.
Steve – you’re my hero.
It would be nice to be able to click on an address in an email and have it open a map the way you can with phone numbers being clickable to the phone.
And the way you can using Leopard’s mail program.
Happy for the update though. Looking forward to see how well the “Locate Me” function works.
I just figured it out… Zune Tang is really a ‘to-the-death’ Mac lover. His pro-windoze comments are just sarcastic pokes meant to bring the platform’s deficiencies to light.
Thank you Captain Obvious!
Now, one more time, how do I wipe?
I don’t care about the animation portion of Flash…that’s just used for annoying web ads and bad “megan’s first web page” pages. I care about the Flash video player. The vast majority of social video sites use Flash. I know that sucks when there’s a superior h.264 open standard they could be using, but reality is what it is, and we need the Flash video player on the iPhone.
delete ALL email would be nice…..there needs to be a faster way to go through your email and dump it….one at a time is a pain in the arse…I get lots of emails…
all very nice, but the iphone lacks a decent can opener.
Come on apple… take care of the basics before you go adding useless stuff….
Oh well… maybe 1.1.4

Well, how about a cork-screw?
And something for taking stones out of horses’ hooves?
And a small laser printer to produce its own playing-cards…
Actually, cut-and-paste and a horizontal keyboard would be even more useful.
What about searchable contacts and a real to-do app? Fer cryin’ out loud. Oh, and Notes that sync. Sheesh!
“I just figured it out…”

WHAT? I am stunned by this news.
I’ve been wanting the ability to pinpoint my location – I often find myself needing to be triangulated…
wait, is this Cnet?
I may need cell tower triangulation later tonight.
Gearlive has been down for 3 days won’t load here at who runs that pathetic site??????????????
writeing this with the horizonal keyboard right now… U know why?! Cuz its the best and is it so hard to add to the text! And the copy and paste. iPhone is the best nuf said!
@steve jobs
oh my god your such a twat pretending to be Steve jobs, and it shows you know dick all about computers when you say flash is used only as an animation tool. nothing new really. customize lets you alter the icons around tool, and it lets you put 5 icons down the bottom, no themes, no copy paste, no flash. mps big deal, the network is too slow for gmaps anyway.
