Chronos today announced the release of iClipboard, the clipboard manager for Mac OS X. According to Robert McCullough, Vice President of Development at Chronos, “iClipboard records everything copied to the system-wide clipboard so you can go back and paste more than just the last thing you copied. Its unobtrusive interface is a ‘must-see.'” iClipboard uses proven clipboard technology that Chronos developed eight years ago for its note manager product.
iClipboard requires Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and 20MB of available disk space.
iClipboard is designed to be elegant, efficient, and easy-to-use. Its class-leading interface makes it easy for users to see exactly what’s in their clipboard history. iClipboard includes a comprehensive set of features to manage the clipboard including:
• Unlimited clipboard history
• Paste clippings with a single click
• Unobtrusive Shelf slides out from the side of the screen
• Clipboard history can be limited by quantity or time period
• Full previews for rich text, image, web, movie, audio, and file clippings

I don’t care to deal with Chronos anymore until they make Soho Notes work under Leopard rather than having to upgrade.

This sounds incredibly useful (at least to me). Apart from Tower Tone’s bad experience, has anyone else dealt with this company or their products enough to offer an opinion?

The only thing I need one of these for is iWork, and this app doesn’t work with iWork (shapes copied from iWork are “unknown”). I’ll pass.
I’m still using PopCopy with Tiger, which I can’t imagine living without. Unfortunately, it appears to be abandonware and hasn’t been updated for Leopard. Anyone know anything about its fate or of other similar apps?
I am a huge fan of JumpCut, which is free, but I am trying out iClipboard. I have not had Tower Tone’s bad experience with Chronos, but I am not using that product. I am a registered owner of StickyBrain, and have always found their customer service quite good, but have stopped using SB in favor of other approaches to GTD.
I was a fan of PopCopy as well. It seems that there’s currently no “standard” way of writing clipboard apps, so one of the others will do essentially the same things, you might not like the interface it’s chosen.
This one gives an error message attempting to install something into your System Preferences pane… what’s THAT about?
Butler has a multiple clipboard feature. Might be worth a look. Plus it has many other neat features too.
All these guy did was copy similar programs like PTHPasteboard which is for the most part free – There is a Pro license but the free version has all the general features you need.

PTHPasteboard works in Leopard.
There is heaps of these programs that you can use for free, so there is not need to pay $19.99 or $29.99 for one.
I am not sure it is worth the asking price, though its graphic support is nice, but I confirmed the problem with iWork shapes that WrongAgain noted above. Between JumpCut and Quicksilver, I am probably happy with current solutions.
JumpCut doesn’t work for iWork either. I need to go through all these apps one day and tag their features because there’s a little to like about each, but no one has taken a Jobsian look at the whole mish-mash and created something WONDERFUL yet.
Things DO look better than they used to, though, because when I first checked years ago, there were only two pasteboard apps I could find that worked in OSX.
Chronos support claims that the iWork clippimg–while not previewable in iClipboard–still works, and that seems to be the case. That is at least an improvement over JumpCut, which doesn’t preserve a copy of the iWork shape at all.
More problematically, iClipboard seems very flaky, sometimes simply refusing to be activated from the sidetab, unless I turn it off in the preference pane, and then restart it. Even then, in some apps, the sidetab did not disappear. Flaky.
