Quite possibly the coolest Apple iPhone app ever: ProRemote Pro Tools controller

“Here’s a killer application that fully realizes the possibilities of touch surfaces as specialized control interfaces: ProRemote converts the iPhone or the iPod touch in a wireless control for Pro Tools LE with realtime feedback. While this may seem limited to the audio world, it shows that having this kind of power in such a tiny package could solve the problems of many users,” jesus Diaz reports or Gizmodo.

Diaz reports that while the beta will be here next week, the final software won’t ship until Apple releases their native iPhone SDK and the developer, Alex Lelievre, can obtain Apple’s iPhone software certification (whatever that may entail). Lelievre hopes to release version 1.0 of the app sometime in late February for around US$150.

  1. Oh man, that’s so way cool! I might just have to buy that sucker.

Now I want this same remote system to work with Maya so I can control blendshapes and other slider-based interfaces in Maya with my iPhone as a remote.

    How sweet it is.

  2. Holy crap! I do audio stuff like this all the time and this is KILLER! Obviously doesn’t replace dedicated control surface but man, what a great application.

And I will be able to write off my iPhone as a music expense when my Verizon contract runs out next year!
