With the introduction of Leopard, the Boot Camp Beta program has ended. The Boot Camp Beta software will expire on December 31, and Apple won’t offer further updates of Boot Camp Beta for Mac OS X Tiger.

Will one still be able to boot into existing boot camp partitions? And what about removing the partition after it expires? eek.
And now we find out what the real price ($) will be for polluting your machine with Windoze.

I saw an article claiming the macs using the BC beta would no longer be usable until the upgrade was in place, or if you removed boot camp prior to its expiration. Removing the windoze partition from the bootcamp app is a fairly easy, painless procedure.
Apple has got to clear out a bug with the version of BootCamp on the Leopard CD.
In this case, BootCamp automatically formats the Windows partition as Fat32 ( even if you size the partition more or less than 32GB. ) U don’t even get the option to choose format. After it copies files and restarts to continue installation, these a disk error message.
With the Beta, BootCamp didn’t do this and the user is who would choose partition, like it supposed to and everything worked fine.
In order for me to Install windows XP properly, I have to downgrade back to Tiger. Without an internet connection, I then install BootCamp Beta 1.3. Then I’m able to install windows properly and I’m able to choose the NTFS format I want.
After installing windows and loading up the 1.3 drivers, then I can install leopard. After thats done, I go back to windows and load up the new drivers from the Leopard CD.
If I ever wanted to change the partition size, I would have to wipe out the whole system and start all over again with tiger and the beta, which is very inconvenient.
Thats a serious bug apple should fix. It’s even on the Discussions board on Apple Support. I have the 5 User Family Pack of Leopard.
I upgraded to 10.5 and new Bootcamp running XP, it worked OK on my kid’s MacBook. She needed it to run a screwed up web site for a math class she is taking. She hated using Winblows!! Collages need to get with the program and stop these IE only web sites. She has bitched alot to the school for the lack of Mac support on these sites!!
Serious question. Can I still run Windows on my Mac if I choose not to upgrade to Leopard I understand Bootcamp was always a beta test but does it seriously have to expire? That forces people into Leopard. I didn’t like Leopard, very nice and worked well but a few niggly things made me stick with tiger.
Apple has bricked BootCamp with the lastest Tiger update.
So if I stick with 10.4.9 (lets face it what difference is it gonna make) I might still be able to use BC?
As I understand it, once the Beta expires, you won’t be able to run the Boot Camp application, but your installation of Windows will still continue to run as before.

try activating the “debug” menu in safari and switching the User Agent To IE for Windows, I’ve found that to help fool websites into thinking you are using windows
also, if you use Camino, you can download free “CamiTools” and do pretty much the same thing

I had the latest Tiger upgrade and bootcamp was still running fine.
What did the email say?
“Dear Apple customers, Get ready for us to brick your Boot Camp.
Should you want to keep using Boot Camp, place a wad of cash in an envelope and mail it to Cupertino.
