Why doesn’t BMW just start offering vehicles with 3-cylinder Suzuki engines? Kingsley-Hughes obviously doesn’t get it: Windows tries to be an upside-down and ass-backwards fake Mac; and an older Mac, at that. Based on history, one would imagine that Apple CEO Steve Jobs thinks Windoze is a bad rip-off of his own company’s OS, perpetrated and inflicted upon the world by Bill Gates. The very last thing that an Apple headed by Steve Jobs would ever do would be to execute Kingsley-Hughes’ dopey, wrong-headed lunacy.
The world made a mistake with Windows. They must be educated; and, slowly, they are learning. Windows is junk compared to Mac OS X. Frustrating, uninspiring, derivative junk. Offering junk when you have a vastly superior product is not a recipe for success.
Boot Camp exists to provide a “Windows Insecurity Blanket” for the ignorant masses. It is an educational tool. It embraces junk in order to ultimately extinguish it. Boot Camp entices the Windows-only sufferers and quickly teaches them via simple comparison that, contrary to their belief, they do not need Windows and that they greatly prefer Macintosh.

I think yesterday’s news from Apple quite adequately proved why this idea is a nonstarter.
If Apple actually sold Windows only machines, tech support costs alone would kill their bottom line.
This would be a great idea if Gateway/Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc. didn’t think of it first.
I think we can all agree that MACs could use a drastic refresh and maybe shaking free of its stodgy, derivative OS would be a great place to start. Leopard or Pussy or whatever is typically late and MAC users will be disappointed if it ever comes out anyway. Perhaps putting a top-shelf, real world OS on Apple’s toy hardware might generate some interest. You MAC sheep might actually get to play games or enjoy the fantastic Zune Marketplace. I love it. Come over to the light side.

Horrible idea not even worth reading. A not though on rebranding. Chevrolet bought Korean Daewoo and rebranded all cars to Chevrolet. One wonders what they thought of when they in that move turned the muscle-car brand into a Toycar looking brand. It looks soo wrong at so many levels to see the Chevrolet logo on one of those miniscule Korean cars.

Apple already has a great retail presence, they are first and foremost A HARDWARE COMPANY.
But they should keep a copy of Mac OS X on the drive until the user specifically requests to delete it.
