“Apple is set to introduce updated MacBook laptops following the release of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard later this month, sources report. With Leopard on track to hit stores October 26, the updated MacBooks could be consumer hands by the first half of November, if not sooner,” Think Secret reports.
“It is unclear at this time whether this means the MacBook will maintain its current architecture and receive faster processors, from the current 2.0/2.16GHz configurations to 2.16/2.33GHz, or whether it will adopt the newer Santa Rosa architecture that the MacBook Pro gained earlier this year,” Think Secret reports.

First post… hi hi hi
The only thing that would get me excited about buying a new MacBook is if Apple releases the rumored sub-notebook model.
third Post… hi hi hi
Right after the back-to-school season? I don’t think so…
4th post…huhuhu, i’m late posting
I’d like to be the first to congratulate our esteemed colleague Darth Mac on his/her “first post”. Well done!
*I apologize in advance for any grammatical or spelling errors I may have. If these hinder in anyway your understanding of my post, please respond and I will do my best to clarify.
I predict that they drop USB ports altogether and replace with wireless USB support.
8th post!!!!!! Brilliant! MDN getting a bit slow on getting these reports out recently, this has been on Think Secret for a day or two now! Old news…
@ rdf-b, Thank you… by the way, I’m a “he”, not a “she” but still a Sith Lord and soon to be a new Mac owner. I’ve always owned PC, that’s why I still consider myself from the dark side.
9th Post… hi hi hi
Aluminum Casing with multiple colors… aka iPod Nano.
I want a MacBook to have a dedicated graphics card. I want the MacBook Pro to have the MacBook keyboard.
If they do change the casing, I want them to keep the Magnetic Lock for the lid. That’s the best part of the MacBook (besides the size and keyboard).
gimme gimme GIMME!
In keeping with our current philosophy of knowing what is best for our customers, the new MacBook will represent a revolutionary concept. We are going to turn the computer industry on it’s ear. New MacBooks will only run web based Applications! Only music purchased at the iTunes store will play on the new MacBooks! Only video purchsed from the iTunes store will play on the new MacBooks. Should you attempt to install any form of data on the new MacBook we disapprove of, we will turn your MacBook into a brick faster than you can say Steve Jobs Rules!

White iMac -> Silver iMac
White iPod -> Silver iPod classic

New MacBook Pro please.
MacWorld in January is looking to be a quiet one when you consider all of the stuff that has come out or will come out this year.
New iMacs
iPhone
New iPods
New OS
New iLife
Other than new Mac Pros, just about everything will have been unveiled and or updated by January.

I’m intending to get a MacBook when Leopard comes out (not long :D), but do you think I should wait until this upgrade? They COULD be uber cool aluminium MacBooks or simply a speed bump as ThinkSecret say. Oh it’s all happening!
I won’t buy if they still have glossy screens.
My friend was looking at switching from a Windows PC to a Mac laptop, but couldnt afford the MacBook Pro with matte screen.
A MacBook with matte screen would have made a sale, but Apple doesn’t make them anymore.
My friend came to the conclusion that the limited hardware choices and the learning curve switching to Mac OS X wasn’t worth the trouble.
I hope someone is listening in Cupertino.
Apple has updated MacBooks (and iBooks) every October or November since the beginning of time. It’s no secret.
@ Dave – so which day did DOG make the MacBook?
I really want a 15 inch MBP but am strapped for cash at the moment. Maybe a MB will suffice especially if the screen were bigger.
I hope they come with Blu-ray players
@davecc
Yeah, and I want sharks with frickin laser beams on their heads, but that’s not gonna happen either.

Considering laptop size Blu-Ray drives are going for about $999 right now, the chances of them being in the MacBook are ZERO.
