Apple Macs are better Windows machines than Windows PCs

“Ever since Boot Camp appeared on the scene, there have been several comments about Macs being better Windows machines than Windows machines. The weird thing is it’s actually true,” Steven Frank, co-founder of Panic, blogs.

“I won’t lie to you — I use Windows occasionally. It’s important for me as a Mac developer to use Windows once in a while, because it’s a fantastic lesson on how do absolutely everything wrong when designing software,” Frank writes. “The other 90% of the time, I use Windows because it is a popular gaming API. I’ve maintained a succession of PCs over the years just to play a handful of games that never got ported to the Mac. (I’m looking at you, Half-Life series! Bastards.)”

“Having just set up XP in Boot Camp again over the weekend, I’m amazed again by how much better the experience is than using a Windows box built by an actual Windows box vendor,” Frank writes.

  1. “Gay Macs to Texas”?
    A shot at Galveston?
    What’s up with that?
Galveston has a very nice ampitheatre for performances… a really nice historical town, where’s the beef?
Believe it or not, there’s an Apple store not too far from there… Baybrook mall.
And yes, people in Texas actually do use Apples. Don’t know if they’re all gay or not. I am, but don’t have a clue what any of this has to do with using Windows.
I certainly know gay people who have window systems. I know one who is a dyed in the wool winfanboy too, but he’s coming around because of the iPhone.

  3. Be sure to read the entire article–it is both informative and

amusing. The mental health agency I work for is purchasing

new Dells (ick), getting rid of Vista, loading XP, and then having

to complete 80 (!) updates before each is ready for use. Each

set-up takes DAYS. If this isn’t an example of Windows hell, I

don’t know what one would call it.

  4. did all the negative comments at our finnish friend not read the previous article?

…..kudos to you my finish friend, i laughed at it, let the masses remain ignorant!

anyway, i have a friend who works at the uni bookstore who likes to point out that they have 25 windows machines on display and only 2 of them have never crashed. one is an iMac running windows in parallels, and the other an iMac running windows in bootcamp.

    irony, thy name is microsoft.

  5. “he’s coming around because of the iPhone.”
Was it on vibrate? (OK, sorry.)

Not only does my Mac run Windows faster than any PC I ever had, but at 7500kb/s down, IE is so much faster than Safari, that I am at my next web page before I even start typing it…..

(well, not really, but it is ‘shit-hot’ fast)

(And yes, Galveston is beautiful. BTW, global warming decimated it in 1900. Who says Texas isn’t ahead of the times?)

  6. “The mental health agency I work for is purchasing new Dells (ick), getting rid of Vista, loading XP, and then having to complete 80 (!) updates before each is ready for use”

that, i believe, is called job security…….

imagine the number of techs who will have breakdowns!

  7. That was Disgusting. WHAT A DiSGUSTING MESS THAT laptop was,

Poor guys I realy felt sorry and know how he feels.
    Wo.
If that is not a TOTAL disgusting mess for “So-long-ny”.. , anyone who actually purchases a PC, by choice…is
    …. What a Complete Retard.

I felt bad reading it, Why are people still near these, Box things.

You could call it a mental health problem.

  9. and New York or San Francisco are not historic??

choice of place to live is very different, but why knock where so many millions of people live and so much has happened? been to NY many, many times, they seem just like me, not more or less unfriendly. people are people everywhere, though they may have different mantles.

  10. I’d much rather live in the historical town of Galveston than any city in NY or CA.

We all watched “An Oficer and A Gentleman”. We all know that Texas is full of steers & queers.

Upstate NY is not NY City! That’s why we ever so often try to secede from that misbegotten union.

Come and visit the real NY. You’ll be suprised in the difference. You’ll also be glad that you did.

MW- home (honest!) Upstate NY is where I call home!

  11. @Arnold Ziffel

Haven’t your IT guys heard of imaging? Dang they must be bad at their jobs if they are setting up each machine individually. Tell them get Symantec Ghost (or similar), set up one model XP system exactly like they want it….updates…….software installs……group policy……etc. Then run WinXP Sysprep on the model system, now have them use Ghost to create a system image and deploy it across all of the other Dell’s 🙁 like it. It saves tons of time and effort and provides them with an origainal system image they can fall back on when the unavoidable and typical Windows problems arise down the road and they have to rebuild a system.

Or even better tell them to get Macs….period.

  12. Damm right CA is the land of fruits and nuts! Here in the central valey we just finished all the peaches and are starting on the apples, walnuts, and almonds.

In 87 I used a Mac SE30 to fill my first database. It took me all of 5 minutes to learn how to use System 6 with the “Switcher”. I held the mouse with both hands and said I’m not gay but I’m willing to learn! (cudos to Bull Murray). Rembember Microsoft File anyone?

  13. PS:
I have used Imaging for macs many times,
It works nice can do 5 macs at a time of one Image.

Sweet Like chocolate, For those who don’t know How I can say:>just use Disk Utility.

We use to in My IT job before I was Fired/resigned, have hundred macs using a clean System Install with all files etc.

  14. “I posted this to help them”

Mac Disks that come with the Computer Only work on that Product Line

Apple are not ashamed of this and inform the users.

If you buy the retail verson of a OS then it will work on all previous Mac, if the meet System requirements.

This is to limit the amount of pirating and is only as Script, it is possible to hack these to work on any mac. But I will not say How,.
