Apple “has released a 1.0.1 firmware update to the iPods, which is available through iTunes. The description merely says ‘bug fixes,’ but we have received many reports that it improves vastly UI responsiveness,” Jacqui Cheng reports for Ars Technica.
“This is a major update, in our mind, as it improves one of the greatest pitfalls of the new iPod classics… The firmware update also applies to 3G iPod nanos, which also appears to improve the (less noticeable) lagginess,” Cheng reports.

My wife has been snapping at me all morning. Couldn’t figure it out until I realized – she just applied the update to her new Nano. Thanks alot Apple….
Seriously… I was playing with the iPod classic at the local Apple Store the other day. Trying to use the new cover flow feature was almost painful; I thought there was something wrong with the display model. This fix should definitely help make it “snappier.”

with all the stories going around about problems that the iPod touch experiencing (mainly the negative Video issue), I just canceled my iPod touch order 🙁
