Uh oh, Madonna’s latest – ‘The Beat Goes On’ – leaks on eve of Apple event

“I know, I know, so much Madonna news. With a new Madonna album on the horizon, the coverage of M isn’t going to get any lighter people! So, the full version of ‘The Beat Goes On’ has leaked to the internet and for the most part it sounds finished. It’s shaping up to be ‘Bedtime Stories Part 2,’ which is a good thing. Madonna starts it off with ‘Let’s do something different, let’s change things up’ and with that I’ll send you on your way — you’ll have to find this one yourself,” Poolparty reports.

Apple’s email invitations to the media for their special event at Moscone West in San Francisco tomorrow at 10am PDT feature the phrase “The Beat Goes On.”

Last week, we mentioned that “The Beat Goes On” was a song released by Sonny and Cher in 1967. The phrase also appears on Sonny Bono’s tombstone and also appeared in The Beatles final press release, issued April 10, 1970, which led many to believe that The Beatles would be coming to iTunes Store tomorrow.

Now, we have this Madonna monkey wrench thrown into the mix. (Madonna was featured in the first Motorola ROKR with Apple iTunes commercial).

MacDailyNews Take: Not that there’s anything wrong with Madonna, but God help Steve Jobs if he’s planning on dashing the media’s expectations for The Beatles with some Madonna album plug / iPod+iTunes tie-in. Jobs and Apple would be roasted on a spit at the media barbecue tomorrow. Let’s hope “The Beat Goes On” is just a weird coincidence, but we’ve got a queasy feeling… pass the BBQ sauce.

  1. Beattles or no, it is going to be about a host of things tomorrow (and nice takes on Madonna’s record label. It could easily be an iTunes non-DRM take tomorrow – which would be another huge deal).

    1. New iPods – Duh.
    2. New iTunes 8.0
    3. New iTunes content now in HD
    4. AppleTV SW update and HD content go for it galore
    5. iTunes and AppleTV do HD with Disney being the first onboard the HD train (720p folks – hey’ it is a start).

    6. New iPod HiFi box with built-in wifi.

FINAL BIG DEAL: The one no one sees coming – Noise Canceling headphones to compete with Bose Quiet Comfort line.

No movie rental service – not yet – that comes in January with another label onboard – 20th Century Fox being the highest likelihood.

  2. Is that skanky old broad still releasing records? No wonder the music biz is such sad condition. She should go the way of Michael Jackson.

(I was 2 years behind her at the same high school. I’m old, she’s older. She was skanky then – some things don’t change.)

  3. “…I was 2 years behind her at the same high school. I’m old, she’s older. She was skanky then – some things don’t change.)”

She turned 49 on August 16th. I too went to the same High School in Rochester, Mi. However, I’m 17 years behind. Her father just recently sold the house that the entire Ciccone family grew up in for $285,000. It was all over the papers here in Rochester.

  4. The Beatles or Madonna ? Maybe some sentimental, old baby-boomer might care. As an young(er), unsentimental baby-boomer I’m completely sick of them all. Pretty soon Madonna with have an album of updated “show tunes” or “classics” or “torch songs”. BLEEECH! She can share the same spot in Hell with Rod Stewart, Robert Plant, James Taylor and KD Lang. And the Beatles ? Classic rock stations sentenced them to Hell as well with 40+ years of the same old songs.

I hope “The beat goes on” means nothing and we don’t have suffer through new songs from old folks who don’t get it anymore.

  5. The HQ rip of this track leaked 2 weeks ago. I doubt they are related.

However, if Apple and Madonna WERE to pair up for a special edition iPod, now would be a good time. There has been talk about Madonna releasing a 25th Anniversary box set next year, maybe there will also be a 25th Anniversary Madonna iPod.

  6. I wish this hag would call it quits…you aren’t hip no more, M…hell, you aren’t young either!!

She can only wish her songs will be half as popular in 30 years as the Beatles songs are.

  7. “She can only wish her songs will be half as popular in 30 years as the Beatles songs are.”

    ——

Actually, 2007 is already the 25th anniversary of Madonna on the music scene and songs from her first year like “Holiday,” “Borderline” and “Lucky Star” are just as popular and/or recognizable as any Beatles song. I don’t think another five years is gonna make much of a difference to those songs. Heck in eight more years, “Vogue” is going to turn 25 years old.

Regardless of what you think. Madonna is the most popular, successful and famous female artist of all time.

She has pushed the limits and challenged conventional thinking about what a female pop artist should be in ways that no other artist before her has ever done.

She has without a doubt earned and cemented her place in history.

  8. I love madonna as much as anyone, but I got to tell ya. I’ve been fortunate enough to hear “The beat goes on” and let me tell you, it is BAD, I mean REALLY BAD. The worst Madonna ever, even worse than “American Life.”

You can’t ever criticize Madonna for not “Thinking Different,” but I sure hope Apple doesn’t tie a campaign or product to this song.

  9. Madonna who?

Like so what! So long as she doesn’t do a special appearance or something. Ugh.

Talent or not, appealing or not… who, why, and whatever… as a Mac Fan I could care-lesser about it.
As a WINDOWS Fan which I am not, hahahahha, I care-even-more-lesser… hahahahah

THX MDN – but honestly does it really matter who is singing of what song is on for such a short few moment in time while WE are all introduced to NEW wonderful products. hahahahah… I see the light.

  10. Okay, so that page you linked to (http://www.poolparty.com/poolparty/2007/08/madonnas-beat-g.html) just links to here (http://preventjossstone.blog-city.com/sexy_cack_full_madonna__pharrell_track_leaked_1_1.htm) which then basically says the same as the previous site, with no directions as to where to find the “preview”.

How about you just link directly to the site that isn’t so cryptic about where to find the song http://whatspoppin.punt.nl/#385462

    listen while it’s up ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  11. I’ll make this prediction.

Regardless of what Apple announces, somebody will piss on it.

    It’s too expensive/it doesn’t have enough storage/the resolution isn’t good enough/it isn’ true HD/blah, blah, blah.

    MS/Zune/Sony/??? did it first/better/does it cheaper/etc./etc.

  12. NO, NO…A THOUSAND TIMES NO!!!! NO MADONNA! I CAN’T STAND THAT ANCIENT FOSSIL WITH THE SAGGING BOOBS AND BAD PLASTIC SURGERY!!!!!

Damn you, Jobs! I wanted HD content for the Apple store! Not to hear more blather about this left-over reject whore from the 80s!!!

  13. NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    oh please please not again…
I just can’t take it anymore
Ok, if they don’t do something Beatles tomorrow I can deal, but I will not get my hopes up anymore, just forget it, Beatles are done for me on iTMS. Even so, I can deal with that.
But Beat Goes On referring to Madonna?? IN LIEU OF Beatles teases?? Salt on a wound. I don’t know if I can tune in for tomorrow’s event. Or check the news sites tomorrow. Is Apple losing it? Just scratch the whole ‘event’ thing and just intro some new ‘pods and be done with it, don’t get us all teased up only to have John Mayer put us to sleep again. Once was cool, a regular spot is not. Gawd, Madonna, curse you whoever suggested that. Sigh….
