Apple has released iPhone Software 1.0.2 which includes bug fixes and supersedes all previous versions.
iPhone Software 1.0.2 is available via iPhone Software Update in iTunes: Select iPhone in the Source pane and click the Summary tab. Click “Check for Update.”
Probably another hack disabler in update’s clothing.
so when are they gonna update logic pro / express? i thought i heard something about a new interface a while ago…
Where do I sign up to get paid for reading and commenting on Mac sites every morning?
Why would you want to HACK anything that you rely upon to work 24/7 is beyond me.
2400 dollars to own a phone/ipod for two years. That’s why you would hack it.
Why would you not want the abiility to do ANYTHING you like to your own property, including hacking?
I pay more than than for my cell on Verizon, and I don’t want to hack it.

Yeah, but my iPhone can do voice recordings, play Nintendo games, and it also serves up web sites from the Apache web server I have running on it. And we’re just getting started. THAT is why you hack the iPhone.
any other info on what it includes?
@Constant Refresher:
Dear oh dear, you haven’t been paying attention have you?
I should point out that, the TCO of an 8GB iPhone is $2056 with a two year contract. Looking at the TCO for the competition:
Nokia N95 – $2875
LG Prada – $2770
HTC TyTN – $2860
Sony Ericsson K850i – $2850
Blackberry Pearl – $2370
Palm Treo – $2420
Funny that, all of the above are more expensive to own than an iPhone – and I don’t read about anyone wanting to hack one of those [I shudder at the thought of why you’d want to].
From the leading jackass, Brett Arends on down, many analysts are writing FUD about Apple’s first offering in this market. Seems like you may have joined them…
On reflection, I take back my slight against Constant Refresher. It was uncalled for. What I meant to say was, I’d have no need to “hack” my own iPhone… but I’d be more than happy to have genuine third-party developers create useful additional apps for it though.
Hacking is a misnomer in this context.
HACKERS BEWARE!!!!
Be WARNED! If you’ve hacked your iPhone (for example, to put a custom ringtone on it), when you attempt to update your iphone it will fail in “jailbreak” mode. iTunes will then want to wipe the phone and restore the software.
That in mind, if you’ve hacked your iPhone be sure to…
a) fully sync beforehand… you’ll need your backup.
b) allot plenty of time to copy all your stuff back (songs, videos and all) to your phone
Have fun!
Horseman
So what hack is available for voice recordings? This is something I really want.
@huey long
Hey Hooey,
Pardon my simple math, but when I looked at it I came up with the following:
8Gb iPhone – 600
60+ a month for the cheapest plan. (I rounded up to 70, cuz the bill will be more than what they say.
Add a bit more for good measure (friends with ATT service said I should)
and you get 2400 (approx)
Probably would be considerably more than that, in actuality.
Too rich for my blood. I’d rather put that much money in a IRA.
Now 600 bucks for the best ipod/video player/wifi device you can buy, that I can sell later and get some money back. That’s worth it to me.
Might even get it going with a sim from a different phone with a less expensive ATT arrangement. That would just be a bonus.
A lottery win would have me joining the rich folks with the full ATT bone job, but I ain’t holding my breath for that one.

its voice AND data ALL iphone plans include unlimited data, whereas it can cost up to 100 a month for unlimited data seperatly.
Safari appears to be more stable. I’m viewing some pages I knew caused crashes before without any problems.
Anyone noticed anything else?
Well, my hacks have all gone, wiped clean. I really like Erica Sadun’s “sendmusic” file hack. That was cool. I’m surprised no one has mentioned that hack, yet.
My iPhone speakers are considerably louder after the update. Much improved. Anyone else notice this?

Oh, I forgot….it feels snappier…
(in truth, it does)
twodales: “My iPhone speakers are considerably louder after the update”
Yes. I noticed this as well. Louder and clearer.
(And just a bit snappier too, of course.)
The Voice Recording hack, errrr app is called VNotes which I assume stands for Voice Notes. You can follow the directions on this page to install the Installer app. Once that’s there you can use it to instal VNotes and lots more.

iFuntastic v2.5 works fine with even after this update. Its an almost effortless way of changing the ring-tones….something I had missed dearly since getting an iPhone. It has other customizing options too, but I’m just here for the ring-tones.
“I don’t read about anyone wanting to hack one of those”
Because you can buy them and use them with any carrier, dumbass.
Most other phones also already have the features people are trying to add to iPhones by other hacks.
if you think people don’t unlock other GSM phones, just google for unlock gsm phone sometime…
