Newly published Apple Front Row patent application hints at cross platform use

“On August 16, the US Patent & Trademark Office published Apple’s patent application titled Multimedia control center… Simply put, It’s Apple’s Front Row application patent,” Neo reports for MacNN.

“At one point in the patent, Apple interestingly calls for an improved cross platform interface. Technically Apple’s Front Row application runs on their desktops, notebooks and Apple TV which could be considered cross platform. On the other hand, that verbiage could be opening the door a crack to the possibility of seeing Apple’s Front Row application appearing on other consumer devices in the future. Apple patents constantly discuss how one application will run on multiple devices and yet rarely if ever couch it in terms of being cross platform. So this isn’t common Apple patent phraseology,” Neo reports.
