Shoe Pouch for Nike+iPod Sport Kit now available in eight colors

Grantwood Technology, LLC today announced the release of the Shoe Pouch for Nike+iPod Sport Kit in eight colors: black, red, hot pink, neon green, teal blue, navy blue, purple, and gray.

The Shoe Pouch is designed to allow runners and walkers to use the sensor from the Nike+iPod Sport Kit without having to purchase special Nike+ shoes.

The primary goal of the Shoe Pouch has always been to provide a secure attachment to the shoe, since this is critical in maintaining the accuracy of the sensor. With this in mind, the current design features reinforced loops, high-quality neoprene and stitching, and a Velcro strip covering the opening where the Nike+iPod sensor is inserted.

“Many customers have asked us to add some color to our Shoe Pouches,” explained Michael Banks, MD, co-founder and CEO of Grantwood Technology, in an email to MacDailyNews. “We have sold over 25,000 black Shoe Pouches to date, and we are pleased to build on our success by announcing that our latest design now comes in a total of eight colors. Not only can our customers have the freedom to wear their favorite brand of athletic shoe, they can also do so in style.”

The Shoe Pouch is compatible with any shoe with laces and costs US$7.99.

  1. Yup the sensor is an Apple product. Nike just on for the ride. I use Adidas shoes too. Think I will get the pouch since I have lost a sensor that I place used the laces.
worst thing was that I realized within 2 minutes but some bastard had already picked it up.

The Nike website is interesting – you dl your data via iTunes and then you can follow your last runs. Still evolving though. There’s some other software available to get the data to allow you to track your efforts.

  2. Okay, I am a manager at Road Runner sports and I have to laugh everytime I hear someone say “Nike shoes are too narrow,” that is the biggest urban legend in the running world…

If you don’t like Nike shoes, then fine, but please understand that Nike shoes come in a variety of different widths, and are just as “wide” as every other shoe brand out there. Put the myth to rest please.

  3. “Yup the sensor is an Apple product. Nike just on for the ride.”

Actually No, Nike is the one who approached Apple with the concept for this product and the implementation was jointly developed by both companies. If it was purely Apple’s doing, it would not be called the NIke+ iPod kit.

OK, so Nike shoes may come in widths. They are still shyte. A bought a pair once, and they promptly fell apart. Worse shoes I ever bought. So never again to Nike.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.

    It ain’t gonna happen!

    We won’t be fooled again

Again, Nike shoes have many different styles and price-points for their shoes.. If you purchased Nike shoes designed for your feet and your running feet, there is no reason they should have “promptly fallen apart.” Furthermore, if you purchased them from a running shop like “Roadrunner Sports” you have a 90 day money back guarantee no matter how much you have worn them.

Nike makes very fine running shoes as do most other major brands. Unfortunately, most people choose running shoes based on the exterior color and appearance while neglecting to purchase shoes that are “right” for their feet..

Skip the Footlocker type sport shops and come into a real runners shop like Roadrunner Sports, and we will do a series of free tests to determine the best brand and style of running shoe for your foot and running needs.

As far as your statement about Nike making “shyte” shoes, well, that’s a load of “shyte.” But again, you should NEVER buy running shoes just based on appearance or the fact that there is a pouch for a sensor underneath the sole. Nike or other brand, we have the perfect shoe for you.
