Houston Chronicle: 30-days with Apple iPhone and still impressed

“I’m closing in on 30 days as an iPhone user and am still impressed,” Bob Levitus reports for The Houston Chronicle.

“For the past few weeks, I’ve forwarded all of my calls to the iPhone and have used it as my one and only phone all day and night, every day and night,” Levitus reports.

“The built-in Safari Web browser is terrific. When the TV commercials tell you iPhone offers the real Internet, they’re not kidding. Most Web sites work perfectly and are easy to navigate and read… My experience is that while Net access is slower over Edge than Wi-Fi, it’s still quite usable. Sure I’d love to see faster Edge access, but I find it perfectly usable as is,” Levitus reports.

“Though I rarely buy a first-generation hardware product and I had no intention of buying a first-generation iPhone, after living with this review unit for almost a month, I can’t imagine living without one. So when the review unit goes back to Apple, I’m buying one. Case closed,” Levitus reports.

  1. Just to clear things up a bit, when someone says “They can’t imagine something”, they don’t mean it literally. It’s just a figure of speach. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  2. Whass’ up with the GW comment and other non-related comments? Are you guys bored or what?? Kinda’ slow news today.

    AAPL down $8.81 today….Ouch!!!!!

It’ll be back up again once the ding-a-ling Analyst realize that the 146,000 AT& T activations don’t count the iPhones that were ordered on-line, bought as gifts and didn’t get activated in the so-called 2 days(Actually 30 hours or less if you don’t count the Saturday as a business day) of AT&T end quarter.

These Wall Street guys are still stuck in the ‘Any thing even remotely, slightly negative about Apple means they are going out of business’ Mindset.

or yet it could be a ploy by AT&T and Apple to send the news of 146,000 to drive the stock price down to provide a major ‘Buying Oportunity’ Yeah bubba!!!

  3. I love my iPhone, but AT&T’s voice service is by far the worst I’ve EVER had. AT&T should really be hit with a class-action suit because of their “fewest dropped calls” campaign which is the big lie ever told since Hitler was alive.

  4. “AAPL down $8.81 today….Ouch!!!!!”

It’s back up 1.71 in after-hours trading. Tomorrow, people will realize the difference between units sold and units activated.

I’m pretty happy about those September $145 calls I bought today.

  5. Once again, class: is Apple a growth story?

    Yes, Ms. Crabtree, it is.

Class, does Apple have 6% and growing of the PC market, 80% of the DAP market, and a chunk (and growing) of the smart(er)phone market?

    Yes, Ms. Crabtree, it does.

Class, does volatility on a strong company’s stock price better reflect it real-world weakness or strategic maneuvering of the market?

    The latter, Ms.Crabtree.

Good, class. Now let’s move on to global politics and why nations get nervous when others are resolute…

    MW “what” as in “?”

  6. About Face: “Face, shouldn’t that be:

“The people get the government they don’t vote for.”?”
    ===============================

Actually, there’s truth in what both of you are saying. However, if our spineless representatives won’t do anything about the current mafia-in-chief, and we don’t vote him or her out regardless of political party, then we get what we deserve.

    MW: Get “involved”

  7. There’s a reason why there’s little political change in this country. It’s because you FLAMING IDIOTS waste your time COMPLAINING ABOUT POLITICS ON MDN instead of going out there and DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Yes, children. You get the government you deserve.

Part of change is being aware, and the truth is that Bush will be gone in 2008 regardless of however many write-in ballots he gets.

  8. Oh yeah, one more thing. I’ll tell you why you post on MDN instead of doing something in the real world. It’s because you’re cowards. You are strong behind a keyboard hunched down behind your keyboard, but not out in in that big scary world. Here you can whine and kvetch all day long but never have to actually do anything. No-one is watching you; no-one is grading you; no-one can even digg you or bury you here. You can steal other people’s names and pretend to be them. That’s why you post here — the absolute lack of accountability. The upshot? We all know it and think of your infantile postings in that light. You’ll never make a difference here. You’ll never convert or persuade anyone. All you all and all you’ll ever be are just froth and spittle on my screen, a perpetual object of ridicule and emptiness.
