Apple today released Mac OS X 10.4.10 Update v1.1 (Intel) which is recommended for PowerPC and Intel-based Mac computers currently running Mac OS X Tiger. This update includes general operating system fixes, as well as specific fixes or compatibility updates for the following applications and technologies:
– RAW camera support
– Mounting and unmounting external USB devices
– Support for 3rd party software applications
– Security updates
Mac OS X 10.4.10 Update v1.1 is available via Software Update and also as standalone installers:
• Mac OS X 10.4.10 Update v1.1 (Intel) – 72MB
• Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update v1.1 (Intel) – 297.2MB
Hmmmm…update for intel only but PowerPC is mentioned…..
The letter p is much snappppppier.
My PowerPC iMac says it’s up to date already, so I’m really confused. How come all updaters say “Intel,” yet we PPC-ers are supposed to be involved too?
Um . . .
From what I have seen at other sources, this update fixes the audio noise problems on Intel introduced by the last update. The problems did not affect PPC, hence no need for PPC to do the update. The other changes mentioned are most likely a re-release of other fixes in the last update; if you did not install that one, this one will supersede it and install those fixes for you, but with out the audio problem.
In plain English – be cool. let Software Update take care of things for you.
if you already did 10.4.10, there is nothing new for the PPC.
For intel, it simply adds the audio update which can also be obtained via the standalone audio update installer

Installed, now this thing is blazin’ fast! Trackball jumps our of my hand…. Unbelievable. Speakers now making barking noises.
me too! and my mouse has started to run around the pad all by itself now! these Updates are simply amazing!
my girlfriend got on her knees after the upgrade…thank you Apple
I beg to differ qka, since installing the 10.4.10 update on my 2.3 gHz Power Mac G5, I’ve noticed a great deal of popping and crackling through my external speakers.
And yes, I’ve checked all of the wires and connections, and all software is up-to-date.
Should I install this on my iPhone?
“Should I install this on my iPhone?” – Spark
Yes.
By PowerPC they meant iPhone, which is run on a RISC chip. It will also enable Flash and iChat, I assure you.
Enjoy!
: )
I just updated, and the anly thing i had to choose was a sound fix for that “pop” thing last week…
Nothing major at all?
My Macbook SMELLS better now!
Now goes to 12!!!!
My intel iMac claims to be up to date… What gives?
Now your mac can transform into a newer mac at will. Your iMac will transform into a macbook when you need to hit the road and will even transform into a iPhone if you need to make a call.
The craziest feature is the flying chair sensor that detects flying chairs and blows them away with a death beam from the iSight lens.
Crazy upgrade.
This is simply a new 10.4.10 version. So, if you have never used the 10.4.10 upgrader prior, this is the 10.4.10 upgrade you will recieve (which now has the audio repair bundled in) if you already upgraded to 10.4.10 prior to this, you get the Audio Update standalone.
