Mayor of Philadelphia waiting in line for his Apple iPhone

“Donning a white baseball hat and warmup suit — complete with an iPod strapped to his arm — a casual Philadelphia Mayor John Street patiently sat on a lawn chair on a South Philadelphia sidewalk, hoping to get his hands on the new Apple iPhone Friday morning,” NBC10.com reports.

“‘I’m out here with the rest of the gang, and we’re all waiting for the iPhone,’ said Street, a self-proclaimed technology advocate. ‘This is the latest and I’m going to have it,'” NBC10.com reports.

“Street said he waited for most of the overnight storms to clear before securing his spot at about 3:30 a.m., noting that the two people in front of him were so sleepy they didn’t even recognize him,” NBC10.com reports. “NBC 10 producers also camped out to try to get their hands on an iPhone.”

  1. Yo Cubert, lighten up on Jersey. I live in Bella Vista now, but I grew up in SJ, and it really ain’t that bad. I’d never live there now, but that’s because I prefer the city life (and I love Philly), not because its a bad place to live. You know you loved hanging out summers in Margate in the mid 90’s, and still buy booze over the bridge and shop at Cherry Hill Mall… Come on, admit it…

  2. @ Winston. MDN is the best site for all Apple news.

And you’re right. Mayor Street’s iPhone encampment is his only redeeming quality. Yet he remains unredeemed. He can use his new iPhone in the long exile that awaits him.
