Apple today released MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0 which provides important bug fixes and is recommended for all 2.2/2.4GHz MacBook Pro models.
The update requires Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later and is available via Software Update and also as a standalone installer.

I’ve got a 2.33Ghz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro. Do I need this?
Is this gonna screw with my firmware like the last update? Do these even mess with firmware? I had a Lacie external DVD drive that through some twist of fate somehow played region 2 & 4 discs without chopping & changing. Now it just reads region 2 only, since the last update. If it aint broke don’t fix it I guess.
Yeah I have a 2.33gHz Core 2 Pro as well. Do I really need this?
This update is only a partial fix.
Prior to the update when plugging an external VGA data projector into the dvi port, the laptop screen would become stretched… and though the laptop would see the projector… The projector could not see the laptop… DVI to DVI projectors work fine.
After the update: DVI to VGA: The laptop screen is no longer stretched… but the projector still cannot see the laptop. I have a trouble ticket into AppleCare and will discuss this problem with tech support in detail tomorrow…

MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0 is really videocard drivers and opengl updates. I looked into the receipt pkg for the “MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0 for all 2.2/2.4GHz MacBook Pro” , and it looks like it updates all videocard drivers, opengl frameworks, and libraries.
Why apple does not state this in the update info is rather strange.
Just thought I would let you know…
(I asked if he had seen any problems/quirks previously and/or any benefit from the update.)
so far I have not noticed any difference between before and after, but I have not tested any games or anything that utilizes opengl to any extent.
If its a big update, then it would warrant looking further into but then again if it was a big update, apple would have said something.
it looks like this is just for 2.2GHz and 2.4GHz MacBook Pro’s, those (like me) with a 2.33GHz MacBook Pro don’t have to worry about this…
