AT&T: Where to find an Apple iPhone (limit one per person)

“With iPhone arriving June 29th at 6 p.m. in AT&T retail stores, the wait is almost over. Use our online store locator to find the closest AT&T store that sells Apple iPhone (limit one per person). We’ll show you maps, directions, and everything you need to get your hands on an iPhone as quickly as possible.” AT&T writes in an email sent out to those who signed up for Apple iPhone information.

  1. whatever: “What if you want to replace both of your ATT phones you have now on your family plan and can only buy one. This Sucks”

Bring your spouse with you, or
    Go to Apple Store, or
Buy another iPhone the next day, or
Buy iPhones from the online stores, or
Wait until the hype dies out
    and so on.

It’s not that hard. You won’t die if all your family members don’t get iPhones on the first day.

  2. If you really want to avoid a long line your best bet is to skip the Apple stores and find an AT&T location in a “not-so-well-to-do” area.

I personally live in Anaheim, Ca. and have at least 5 nearby Apple stores in malls, but I’m going to drive a few miles north to Buena Park.. I hate to stereotype, but I don’t think that most people living in Buena Park can afford an iPhone.

  3. @ Skip the Apple stores.

    My options are:

U-Village Apple store – upscale outdoor mall, Chicos/Coldwater Creek/Crate and Barrel clientele. No shortage of cash here.

Bellevue Mall – Stones throw from MS, plastic goy toys, rich kids with Porches. This one’s gonna be a zoo.

    {sigh}

Maybe I’ll just go get in line now.

  4. @ shoeman

Rob Enderle has been banned from the New York Times because they know what he is…a paid shill for Microsoft. He is actually a dreadful flack who leetches off other companies and only badmouths the companies who don’t pay him. I don’t know why people still pay attention to him.

  5. When you click on the link you get,

    “Maintenance In Progress

Wireless from AT&T is continually working to improve our internet site for our customers. As part of this ongoing effort, we are currently doing maintenance. We apologize for this inconvenience and ask that you please try back again later.”

I hope this is not an example of service to come.

  6. Site worked fine for me earlier in the day, and again right now. My guess is when they sent out a million e-mails at once, like they did this morning, hundreds of thousands of folks linked back at once, flooding their servers and knocking them offline for a bit.

I was also surprised at the number of AT&T stores within a few miles of my house. But I’ll be waiting for version 1.1 — I’ve been burned as an early adopter one too many times — including an $1,800 fax machine in 1988 (ouch), a top-of-the-line Beta VCR (best-quality VCR I ever saw in any format), and the original iMac (should’ve waited for the Revision B).

  7. Ack…enderle crap. Why does he think this phone would require so much “support” from IT departments around the world? It looks pretty damn easy to use. I don’t know anyone who has ever bothered our corporate IT helpdesk about problems with their phones. Webmail access to the exchange server is straight-forward, and the instructions for setting up the phone to access the exchange server via IMAP or POP3 should be largely the same as they are for a Q or Blackjack or whatever. I work at a huge multinational company, and honestly, IT doesn’t tell us what phones we can use, they don’t care. Very few people have phones paid for by our IT department. We’re on our own for that.

  8. Great..there is a store just a mile away. How many times have I said I wasn’t going to buy an iPhone (yet)? I’m caving like a wet blanket over here, doods! Must lay off the kool-aid, repeat, must lay off the kool-aid! Arrrrhhh!
