    “Just read any thread that has anything to do with politics.”

    Right on. Seems to me there are a lot of in-denial homophobes on MDN, like “PC Apologist” and “Doc”. They either have very small genitalia and/or drive a souped-up Subaru/Mitsubishi/Honda/Mazda/Toyota with a coffee-can exhaust and 20″ rims and/or haven’t been laid in a very long time. My vote is for all three. I wonder what else “PC Apologist” apologizes for…

  2. I wonder if there is going to be a spcial event for the iphone. I am still hoping for new Features to be revealed, Like bluetooth A2DP or ichat. Speaking about ichat do you guys remember the rumors that were going around before the iphone came out? The ones about a second Apple phone coming out called ichat mobile?

  3. to ChristopherOne (or is it ChrissyOne?), I’m not quite sure what you’re referring to (“Wow. I had no idea how small minded and pathetic many MDN viewers are.”); I kept re-reading others’ posts but couldn’t find anything overtly small-minded or pathetic; I have a feeling I’m not seeing the whole thread, somehow.

    To pnorm: here in the States, most stores (and definitely all AT&T and Apple ones) are open on weekends. I would not be surprised if the 2000 or so Apple and AT&T stores expand their hours to the ‘Christmas Week’ schedule (’till midnight).

    As someone already said, this timing represents most skillful use of media for free advertising which money can’t possibly buy. Not to mention breaking the retail records for a three-day launch sales. If they can process an average of five iPhones per hour, they could easily hit 300,000 units at the end of the weekend. With 4 July around the corner, many will take an extra day or two off (to make a really long weekend) and go pick up their new iPhone. I could see first million in exactly ten days (end of second weekend).

    I did it

    after reading this, I just purchased airline tickets to Miami, will get in at 10:45 am, will have my Daughter pick me up,(she is 3rd year at Miami Medical )(yea, I’m a proud Papa), I “Hope to be the 1st Mexican to own an iPhone!! (one who still lives in Mexico)
    Its going to be expensive!! 59 cent roaming, just counting on Jajah to have a VOIP plan, otherwise, I will have the neatest iPod ever!!

  5. Whatever comments they’re referring to most likely got pulled. Honestly, though, I haven’t seen much evidence of “fear of homosexuals”. Homophobia has come to mean opposition to any part of the homosexual politics, much the same way that Islamophobia has come to mean opposition to any part of the Islamification of the world. Keep throwing around those words like nukes guys and you’ll find that you create the hate that you fear.

    Yeah, I think MDN deleted some posts. It all started with “Angie” saying something implying I were gay. That, to me, was completely uncalled for. Whether or not someone is gay, or liberal or conservative or whatever, has nothing to do with why we are here. We are here to discuss Apple and Apple related things. Invariably though, someone, in some story, has to be sophomoric and introduce a small-minded ignorant quip to get an unfavourable response so that they can feel proud of themselves, not for contributing, but for being the little insignificant peon that they are.

  7. Of course, if you truly don’t have a problem with gay people, then you shouldn’t really get all offended if someone implied that you are. Technically speaking. If you wanna nit pick.

    But anyway, I’m sure Mary will come along with some pearl of wisdom any minute now.

    ChrissyOne=Bull Dyke

    ChristopherOne=Donut Puncher

    …or the like. People must have run out of crosses to burn.

  8. My verizon account expired this week. So, I called Verizon to cancel it. The verizon rep on the phone asked ‘ is there anything we can do to keep you with verizon’.
    I told him ‘well. Call your CEO.. you had your chances. you screwed up getting the iphone’. He said, they might get the phone in 6 month.. I was like ‘Yeah.. 6 months.. on your dreams. how about never?’.

    Anyway, later i called AT&T to see if i can get a bridging / temporary service until iPhone comes out. ( Of course i can)
    After the call, the rep was going non stop ( “Is there any other information i can help with you today?”).. He was actually collecting a list of users who wanted iPhone. Looks like these agents get commision on the phones they sell. He was very keen to add me to his list. Of course I can’t wait until they ship me one. So i am going to Apple Store directly.

    Cheers

    I love you.

    But, just to point out, I have no problem if someone thinks I am gay. Gay men hit on me all the time. To be honest, it’s nice. Why? The ones who hit on me are good looking; in shape, impeccably groomed, great dressers, etc. Since these guys flirt with me that tells me that I too must be in shape, well groomed, a great dresser, etc. What upset me about “Angie’s” post was that it was meant derogatorily. She doesn’t know me. She’s never seen me. So for her to make a remark like that was juvenile at best. Sad and pathetic. And for the other neanderthals to chime in with their own infantile chortle, well, that just set me off.

  10. Just what we need. A thousand people lining up in Apple retail and ATT stores that day, all of them trying to have their hands on the first iPhone available, asking all these unanswered questions about pricing, contract, features, etc., near the closing time. Yeah, this makes sense. I hope they have good crowd control and extended hours. Good luck to all the employees.

  11. @ christopherone

    there is no way a genius of all people will have any access to inventory or setting aside anything. apple employees probably wont even be able to buy one themselves, let alone set aside 4 for you. BAHAHHAHAA.

  12. “The ones who hit on me are good looking; in shape, impeccably groomed, great dressers, etc. Since these guys flirt with me that tells me that I too must be in shape, well groomed, a great dresser, etc.”

    That’s not gay, that’s just annoying.

  13. And just a warning to all you folks eager for an iPhone and a 2 year contract with ATT. In an effort to keep pirated films, music and other content of its network, ATT via anti piracy technology will spy on you and if caught prosecute you. And they can get away with this because there is no competition. And because none of you are probably aware of it. I suggest you read this LA Times article. You need to register first. And tell a friend and then tell ATT to stop treating us like criminals.
