Apple CEO Steve Jobs: Don’t go to an Apple store on iPhone launch day, it’ll be a madhouse

“Steve Jobs and Bill Gates took the stage together at the D Conference in Carlsbad, California, in what was billed as a historic reunion (the last time they had been interviewed together was by Fortune magazine in 1991 and a lot has happened since then). The reunion lived up to expectations. And at the end of it, all the tech luminaries in the Four Seasons ballroom rose and gave them a standing ovation,” Arianna Huffington reports for The Huffington Post.

Huffington reports, “Talking to Steve Jobs after his speech, I got a hot tip on how to be one of the first people to score a new iPhone when they go on sale in June. ‘Don’t go to an Apple store,’ Jobs told me. ‘It will be a madhouse there. People will be lined up around the block, sleeping on the sidewalk to get one. Go to an AT&T/Cingular store. Most people don’t know that they will be selling them too.’ Uh, they do now, Steve.”

  1. Problem is, I’d rather stand in line for a few hours than have to deal with AT&T/Cingular sales people. Besides, all good Mac geeks have to make a pilgrimage to the holy cube at least once a year.

  2. I got several Cingular (now the new AT&T! whoopie fscking doo!) Stores staked out.

They are located in the more poorer areas which would be less likely to have any money to buy a iPhone.

I have their phone numbers and I have cash.

Come rob me if you dare.

  3. Sales of the iPhone have banned in the state of Texas.

It was determined that the motor used for its “vibrate” function was too powerful, and the shape of the iPhone too convinient that it would corrupt the young innocent girls of the lone star state.

  4. @not serious
… it would corrupt the young innocent girls of the lone star state.

From what I saw traveling through Texas, I’d say it’s far too late to worry about that.

  5. The Cingular/AT&T store near me, had over 100 people on the waiting list as of over a week ago.

It won’t be easy to get them there either, and you certainly will NOT get one on launch day if you’re not already on the list.

I doubt anyone will get one on launch day anywhere if they are not already on a wait list.
