“An analysis of April unit data from market research firm NPD leads researchers at PiperJaffray to believe that iPod shipments for Apple’s June quarter could come in around 9.5 million units, slightly below Street estimates of 9.8 million units,” Prince McLean reports for AppleInsider.
“For Apple’s June quarter, the analyst [Gene Munster] isn’t expecting iPhone sales to have a material impact on financials, as the device is likely to launch with only a matter of days left in the quarter. However, he bills the company’s upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference as a ‘significant wildcard in the quarter,’ which could draw positive reactions from investors,” McLean reports.
McLean reports, “As part of the annual Apple developer gathering, Munster said he’s prepared for a full-featured demonstration of Leopard, including a demo of how Leopard will integrate Windows interoperability. He’s also expecting new MacBook Pros and the possibility of redesigned iMacs.”

I don’t see how the iPhone can not have an impact on iPod sales. But we’ll see I guess.
The iPhone IS an iPod with more stuff.
The iPhone is completely unsuitable for use as an iPod.
8GB can’t even hold my “favourites” playlist.
at some point, given the price and features of an iphone, and given the price and (lack of) features in cheap wintel computers, some thought should be given to counting iphones in computer market share. this will never happen, of course, and so all of these analysts and nonthinking competitors to apple will miss the bigger point of what is happening until it is all over and too late. they will be concentrating on the cheshire cat all the while that it dissipates into only a smile. and they will be so surprised.
How does an analyst “estmate” something, anyway? Does he have to marry somebody he met one of those Werner Earhart EST seminars or something?
Let me help you finish that:
“The iPhone is completely unsuitable for use as an iPod,” says Bob speaking for Bob.
8 GB would work for me for now.
“As part of the annual Apple developer gathering, Munster said he’s prepared for a full-featured demonstration of Leopard, including a demo of how Leopard will integrate Windows interoperability.”
The other day I was standing next to a grape vine & it wispered in my ear, “Windows & Linux interoperability done through Spaces. Even able to drag files etc, between all 3 OS’s via Spaces!
Then it withered & died…
Hey Microsoft,
How’s that whole 1 million Zunes by June coming along?
There are up to 16 spaces (virtual desktops) in Leopard, btw.
@ No Squirt
interesting…. verrry interesting.
I think we may be underestimating that little Spaces demo we saw.
Does Spaces do anything to reduce the use of system resources when hidden? If it does and you can keep more apps open on your different Spaces then that would really be something.
Estmates = Estimates.
quick edit!!
Hey, I’m doing my share. I should get my new 4GB Nano I ordered from Apple this week. Thinking about a new Shuffle too.
Not sure about the mechanics, Macaday, but that would make sense. Perhaps it’s many aliases linked to one common app resource. I saw a screenshot from Macworld UK that showed 16 spaces in the sys prefs setup.
I bought AAPL when it was at $17. Some asswipes made fun of me for it, but guess who’s laughing now?
“How does an analyst “estmate” something, anyway”
Munster is a used AAPL stock salesman. (His company makes it money by buying and selling AAPL stock). Whatever you can say of him, they only interest he has is in producing price movement is in AAPL that they can benefit from.
Actually asswipe fake, it was close to $45.00
And in my town, for $45 you can get sex with an underage boy. Go Apple!
Maybe this will increase the sales …
