“Research firm UBS today raised its earnings estimates for Apple shares through fiscal year 2008 due to higher margins, and upped its price target from $124 to $133 based on the firm’s new 2008 earnings-per-share estimates,” MacNN reports.
MacNN reports, “‘Mac units of 1.517 million beat our estimate of 1.495 million with the upside driven by strong desktop sales,’ said UBS analyst Ben Reitzes. ‘We believe Macs will continue to have solid momentum through fiscal year 2008 as the Multiplier Effect continues.’ UBS reiterated its ‘Buy 2’ rating on Apple shares.”

An extra small bonus on top of all this good AAPL news for me…
Last weekend my best friend from High School told me he has finally relented after months of waffling and decided to make the switch to Mac!
I don’t know how much of this is due to my explanations and demos in the Apple Store over the last half year or so, and how much is due to:
a. His reported conversation with an exec at his firm who also uses (and swears by) a Mac at home, and
b. The “Geek Squad” and its inability to un-bugger his existing Vaio PC, saying he needed to turn OFF all the Norton anti-virus he has on it to make it run at a decent speed. (Excuse me? Turning off antivirus on Winblows sounds rather like pointing a gun at one’s head…)
Of course he asked again whether I’d help him get it set up when he buys it, and I said that there are few greater joys for the Mac evangelist than helping a Windows sufferer out of darkness.

Help him get set up? What pull it out of the box and turn it on for him?
Well, I think his main concern as far as “set up” will be transferring over his Windows documents, contacts, email, calendar appointments, etc… I am sure he could probably do these things following the directions posted here and at Apple, but for someone who is totally technically ignorant (I mean, this guy had a DVD player his sister had gifted him with in a closet for months until I set it up for him), it can be a little daunting.
