Guy gets bad Airport, thinks Dvorak tells the truth, believes AP writers, proclaims Apple in decline

Apple Store“Apple’s iPhone lasts a mere 40 minutes? Apple TV loses out to XBOX 360? Apple customer service reminiscent of Dell, Seagate, HP customer service? Yep, maybe even worse,” Ashkan Karbasfrooshan writes for SeekingAlpha.

After ironically making fun of an Apple service person’s unintelligible name, Karbasfrooshan (who’s obviously never tried to read that conglomeration beneath his driver’s license photo) pronounces that, “Apple is on the descent” because he got a defective Apple Airport Extreme that needed to be replaced. So, he cries and whines on the Internet like a widdle baby. Waaa! Yawn.

Of course, Karbasfrooshan also believes iPhone battery times thrown out by John Dvorak during podcasts sourced to “someone from Cingular” (which was so ridiculous that even we ignored it!) and bases his stock advice on an Associated Press hit piece that was based totally on some random hack’s conjecture about Apple TV’s future after reviewing it with the resolution likely incorrectly set.

See, John Dvorak is the unquestioned authority on iPhone battery life because, oh, we don’t know, probably because he’s been consistently wrong about Apple for decades or maybe just because he wears cheap, loud Hawaiian shirts while trolling for hits, like the hit whore he is, and one AP review of a product outweighs 20+ other reviews that disagree because, we guess, the AP article is syndicated and to the likes of Karbasfrooshan, seeing it reproduced hundreds of times somehow counts more than 20+ independent reviews.

If this is why you sell your shares in a company that’s primed for massive growth, then you have more problems than a bad Airport Express, Mr. Karbunclefruitshake or whatever your name is.

MacDailyNews Take: If you got a bad unit, use the warranty provided and exchange it. No product run is perfect. We have multiple Airport Extreme units that function perfectly well, as they do for the majority of users.

  1. Nobody’s perfect. Had my first mac death today after abotu 7 years after our switch at home and work. Out of our 20+ macs in our group at NASA, my desktop motherboard is gone. It’s annoying, but it’s the hardware, and there’s a defect rate to everything. If I had at LEAST one machine die or crash every DAY like it was in 1999-2000, with Windows 2000 machines, then I’d be upset…. which I was. My G5 is 4-5 yrs old, perfect excuse to upgrade. This is an opportunity. (One of the downsides of macs at work…. tough to justify new machines every couple of years, because they just stinkin work.)

  2. Wireless…

…is a rather fustrating experience for the non-tech consumer which Apple products cater too.

Apple would do itself a world of good if it started offering in home setup and online further training for these newbies.

I suspect the Airport was hacked and disabled by the recent exploits.

  3. We all know MDN is a bit of a Mac Fanatic at times – striking out maliciously at anyone uttering so much as a perceived insult in Apple’s vague direction – but this is a bit strained. Really. This is not a semi-reasonable or semi-informed negative commentary, this is a Hit Job … no real attempt to disguise it. Thus there’s no need to respond to it, nor even to take note of it.

  4. How could he have gotten a bad Airport? Apple is the BMW of everything. Everyone else makes “junky” low quality stuff…. Apple never sell a “bad” anything!!

I’d say he’s lying. Apple Stuff is the best of everything. WOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Yes it’s drivel, (and even dribble as some mentioned ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” /> but it’s linked from Yahoo’s Financial section so unfortunately has more of an audience than it deserves. Therefore should be mentioned here IMHO.
Would you rather be ignorant that this piece (of crap) is reaching thousands from the unwashed masses?

You crave Apple news like the rest of us. This lets you learn what the others are ‘learning’

What else were you going to do with those 2 minutes?

  6. What Smells?: The word is correctly spelled drivel (to talk nonsense). However, it has an archaic meaning identical to dribble (let saliva or mucus flow from the mouth or nose). Perhaps in this case one could and should use both words because both definitions suit the situation.

  7. I heard that the battery life, when it works is just 5 minutes. That the touch screen is radioactive. That it weight 10 pounds and only hold 14 low resolution pictures.

Proof? Well, I heard it from someone I can’t name.

  8. This guy uses Dells and HPs and thinks they are the best companies out there? He never mentions their service provided him. He obviously doens’t follow business news or he would know Dell is struggling. He buys an Apple product that malfunctions (we don’t know what he did with or to it) and Apple service offers him a refund on the first call that he made. That’s bad service? Clearly he called with his mind made up or an exchange would have been the subject of the call. He then, without even using it, claims its crap and that because of his “feeling”, Apple is in decline. We should all go an buy some Dell piece of equipment, and when we get it call service and demand a refund. Then we can all blog about how lousy Dell products are and claim to be technology experts. But then what are the odds that Dell support would ever grant a refund? Aligning with Dvorak is like agreeing with Rush Limbaugh. I find both to be a joke but for the many that believe in the tripe they spew.

  9. WiseGuy,

“I suspect the Airport was hacked and disabled by the recent exploits.”

You don’t use a Mac to post. You come out with this hacked bullshit. You really are a paid Microsoft Astroturfer, aren’t you?

  10. I suspect Ashkan Karbasfrooshan’s main intent in writing his article was to irritate readers enough to get them to click on his name to find out who this ‘jerk’ is. Doing so introduces the readers to his site http://watchmojo.com/main.php and perhaps hooks them.

Evidence appears to be pointing to the reality that the internet is becoming more and more an ‘advertising medium’ rather than an ‘information sharing medium’. Otherwise, why would ‘pundits’ even exist and apparently make a good living?

Even this wonderful (no sarcasm intended) site, macdailynews.com, with its well written articles follows each article with “Advertisements:”

We all read, and occasionally we also buy. Keep up the good writing; it make us think critically.

    Robert
