President Bush tours Walter Reed, says he appreciates that soldiers have Apple Macs

Apple Store“President Bush apologized Friday for the shoddy conditions at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and promised during a visit to the facility for war veterans that ‘we’re going to fix the problem,'” The Associated Press reports.

“Critics questioned the timing of Bush’s visit six weeks after poor conditions and neglect of veterans were exposed there,” AP reports.

AP reports, “Bush toured the main hospital and Abrams Hall, where soldiers were transferred after they were vacated from the facility’s Building 18, where moldy walls, rodent infestation and other problems went unchecked until reported by the media. He said his conversations with those who had been in Building 18 left him ‘disturbed by their accounts.'”

“‘The problems at Walter Reed were caused by bureaucratic and administrative failures,’ the president said at the end of a more than two-hour visit. ‘The system failed you and it failed our troops and we’re going to fix it,'” AP reports.

AP reports, “Bush first toured a typical — but empty — patient room in Abrams Hall. The room Bush saw featured a wide-screen television and a Macintosh computer on a desk. ‘I appreciate that soldiers have got a Mac’ to communicate with their families, the president said.”

  1. Just goes to show, even the US Gov is taking a hit when it comes to buying Macs.
They may have blown the Walter Reed operating budget with the purchase of that one Mac.

I just hope they didn’t pay on the same pricing structure as those hammers and toilet seats.

Waddya think, ’bout $4.2 mil for an old Blueberry?

    S.O.S.

  2. his tour is typical of saying one thing and doing another. do some research on the budget cuts to the VA and you will know exactly what system has failed the veterans. that would be the Bush system.

and by research I mean actual research not skimming the talking points or knee jerking yourself off.

  3. Don your flame-resistant suits.

The juvenile onslaught from the repuglicrooks will keep this thread alive well into Sunday night.

Maybe with a one hour break that morning between 11am and Noon. Time for IHOP, iGuess.

  4. It’s cute how liberals pretend to care about veterans, even though every thinking person knows that all they care about is making political hay against Bush. And I say this as a conservative libertarian who has never liked Bush all that much. But I know hypocrisy when I see it, and the liberals have it in spades.

  5. Parts of Walter Reed VA hospital are a disaster and I’ll wager NO-ONE got fired.

Government shirkers are fireproof, as are teachers who can’t teach.

Every veteran should be given a Mac in thanks for their service.

  6. An endorsement that makes me want to buy a Dell.

Seriously… flame away… but I don’t know how anyone with even half a brain can support that man and his policies. Plus he’s dumb.

  7. It’s very rare that a story is too bizarre to be worth commenting on and this is one of them.

All of the MDN Republicans are more than welcome to keep this story alive as long as they like, we Democrats are busy making popcorn whilst we watch the Attorney-General self-destruct.

  8. hello people. all i have to say is that i like tax breaks for my gay rich friends!! damn, i love having more money for me to buy condoms and telling all those poor liberals to shove it.

I love being a gay republican and I’m proud of it.
