• AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow Base Stations
• AirPort Disk Utility
• AirPort Disk Agent
Note: Only previously installed software from the list above will be updated. AirPort Utility v5.1 for Mac OS X 10.4.x or later software supports the AirPort Extreme Base Station with 802.11n, AirPort Extreme Base Station and AirPort Express Base Station.

I REALLY hope this fixes the issue with the Airport Disk mysteriously dropping out!!! If not I’m going to be PISSED!
I hope this fixes the VPN issue too. Can someone confirm? This is all that is holding me up from buying this thing.
This damn well had better fix these WDS problems and the Airdisk disconnect problems.
FWIW,I put the new extreme basestation on top of my Studio Pro 4 speakers. Makes a nice constant white noise sound, and lets me audibly monitor airport traffic. How cool…

What’s the VPN issue your having? I use CiscoVPN through it and it works just fine.
I agree with Matt. I am sick of BOTH my AP extreme’s dropping out for no reason. Alternatively, there are days where I can see it but cannot connect. I have to restart the AP.. Sigh. I have always felt that the AP extreme’s were Apple’s weakest product compared to non-Apple ones. I want to pick up the new AP from Apple but cannot seem to find any info on whether this cures the problem.
This update had damn well better sort my bad back out, it’s been causing me pain for months now.
All of my many different forms of Airport Base Stations that I and my company has owned have all worked flawlessly with the exception of the graphite base station blowing out a transistor that I actually replaced with a better one and it worked great after that. All other models never had any problems.

I read that VPN was difficult to use because the internal firewall blocks the ports and that they need to be opened manually. I’ve read this on the apple page and by a few reviews on google. If this is not an issue, please let me know. If I can’t use VPN, I can’t use the router.

I have a major WDS at home in fact three houses long. I use the new square wireless N APBS for the main, i have two relay AP Expresses and two remote (round) APBS. And for fun an ATV too. The new device and software made it a pain to get working, but even over a complicated WDS like mine using this new (square) APBS, I can get access at work via Cisco VPN (can’t remember the version). I’m only bummed this update came out two days after I got it all running smoothly. :p Oh well.

I’m running two APExpress myself and they work fine with VPN. I read on the apple website and on Amazon that users were reporting problems with VPN and the internal firewall. Something about not being able to open up port ranges in the firewall and instead only being able to open single ports at a time. I use CiscoVPN and didn’t want to buy this if I was going to be blocked. My plan is to use the APExpress for the G network and the Extreme for the N which only the ATV would be hooked up to for now.

I had trouble with the Airport signal dropping out and figured out it was conflicting with our wireless phone. I changed the Airport Channel to 7 via the Airport Admin Utility, and haven’t had any problems since. Took a couple times of trying different channels until I found the best one. Try choosing another channel.
I’ve read different things can interfere with wireless signals.
I’ve owned 2 of the “Spaceship Airports” in the last 7 years. (Will probably get a new “Airport Square” : ) when I get a new iMac (as soon as THEY come out). I set up my friend’s “Square” and no problems at all with her signal so far.
