Apple TV hard drive upgrade works

Apple Store“In case you were wondering, it is possible to upgrade that measly 40GB hard drive on Apple TV, in this case to 120GB. Tipster Jonathan Bare says he’s done it, resulting in a capacity of 107.36GB. Now that’s more like it,” Gizmodo reports.

“He sent along these two pictures showing the results of his hard drive upgrade, with a promise to tell us how he did it later on today,” Gizmodo reports.

  1. @drmacnut;

    That’s a good point. I’ve got a question up in the Apple forums for AppleTV. I’ll post a link to the answer if it comes.

    @Edgy;

    That’s interesting. I was led to believe, by Apple’s literature, that Aperture wouldn’t run on the MacBook because there isn’t a dedicated graphics card, but it can on the MacBook Pro because it does. So you have a MacBook, not the pro, and it does run on yours? Are the Core 2 Duo’s equipped with a dedicated graphics card, or are they also sharing RAM as in the C1D MacBook I’ve got?

  2. BTW, I just took a look at the specs again, and the Macbook is listed as supported, and the Intel GMA 950 (which is in the Macbooks) is also listed as a supported graphics chipset.

    I honestly don’t notice any slowdown when manipulating images, but it could very well be thanks to the extra GB of RAM.

  3. Once more Steve Jobs makes us “Fans” pay the price & settle for less.. I can’t believe he could even find enough wimpie 40gig HDD’s to cover demand.. He should be ashamed of himself for not including a 120gig HDD, & at least one cable, especially when he’s charging $299.00.. I love my MBP,ipod & other misc. goods I own but I’m not going to consider iTV until its first firmware/hardware upgrade.. A 40gig HDD is an insult to anyone who’s been an iTunes member for awhile. Heck, I have almost 20gigs of TV shows I’ve downloaded, not to mention all the podcast video..Plus, why should I still be required to keep this content on my MBP, it should copy to the Itv box & stay there so I can free up HDD space..
