Notable Calls reports, “They believe Apple’s new OS, Leopard, will likely be released in mid April. Slightly more than half of the resellers in checks said Leopard related purchase delays are having a slight negative impact on Macs, while slightly less than half said Leopard is not having any impact on Macs.”

It’s impacting my purchases…I’m holding off for Leopard.
In time for NAB?
Maybe. But I still think it’s too soon if any of the latest buzz over bug reports are accurate. Apple Engineers must be working some long hours these days.
Make that:

Me long hours too.
Well … so much for the “slow-down” reported in a previous MDN thread, huh ?
Why wait for Leopard? The future of computing is already here. It’s called Vista. Sure it has a few bugs but I have been using it with my brand new PC and it works wonderful. The wow starters here.
To many stories about what people think instead of what they actually know. Let’s just wait and when Apple announces something then we can get all excited about it. What a concept.
@John:
I agree with you on this one. It’s better to be surprised than getting a let down.
This report may be accurate. Why? Because for the past few years, I have been getting increasing worried about Apple growing…about then getting too successful and expanding into other field. So often companies do this and over extend themselves and the price that pays is defective projects and probably in this case buggy software. For the first time since 1984, I am starting to see a LOT of defective Apple hardware (iG5 imacs, ipod photo and iPod video). I now am concerned that Apple will rush leopard out too soon.
Sigh…I love Apple and have promoted them ad nauseam to anyone that will listen. All my friends call me an evangelist. These days I am starting to get discopuraged and am starting to wonder that the shine is fading. I hope I am wrong. Guess I need to get some of Steve’s reality distortion field to help me along. Apple DON’T release it until its ready.
Isn’t the release date announced one month ahead of time, to give retailers a chance to stock up and pre-orderers a chance to pre-order and, most importantly, excitement a chance to build?

never happy. thats what i love about Mac Fanboys.
yeah, i guess a year and a half is WAY too fast.
To GrainofSand,
Hmmmm . .. ah,,, NO. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” /> Don’t you remember those famous words “And its shipping NOW.” from many a Steve Jobs presentation.?????
I do have to wonder whats keeping Leopard? I am guessings its one or two items that are linked to iPhone, or Apple TV, or such that they want to make sure work cleanly. Now is not the time for software to come out being buggy.

Put a liplock on my love muscle you pompous jerk
Hey you losers, I’ve got myself a nice solid 7lb Dell potable computer that I use and it runs an operating system already better than your guyz’ Leppard already, it’s called Vista and it runz like a charm and it never gives me any pro
Hi, I am an analyst, and all signs are indicating that Wednesday will indeed follow Tuesday for this week, and forseeable weeks in the future. Many weekdayologists have concurred that it is probable that we will see an average of 52 non-consecutive occurances of weekdays this year, each coming exactly 7 days after the previous and seven days before the next. With this type of talk among the weekdayologist community, it would be difficult to say, with any real conviction, that Tuesday will not follow Wednesday, at least for this week.
“Potable”?
You mean you can drink your Dell laptop?
Or do you mean it drives you to drink?
it drivez me to drink

Spring starts at 5:07PM PT. Leopard was going to be released in Spring!
A mid-April to mid-May release seems most likely for Apple. They like to spread out product announcements so the publics’ eye and ear are only captured by one thing at a time.
March -> Apple TV launch
April/May -> Leopard launch
June -> iPhone launch and Leopard recap at WWDC.
I don’t think Leopard will be released at WWDC. It is too close to the iPhone launch and they need to get Leopard into people’s hands before the start of the conference.
My 2 cents.
“it’s called Vista and it runz like a charm and it never gives me any pro”
Couldn’t finish typing that last word, Dellian, could you? PC crash much? LOL.
Also, have fun getting that workout with that 7 lb. notebook.

Just think how smug I will look because I got it right! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

Do you notice a higher NUMBER of defects or a higher PERCENT? I think you see where I am going with this. Just curious, as Apple is selling more, the numbers go up, but hopefully not the percent.
moo: yeah, i guess a year and a half is WAY too fast.
me: What happened a year and a half ago, exactly?
@TT
Difficult to tell at the macro scale. On a microscale, all I can comment on is what is happening with the numerous Apple purchases I make both personal and work related which is relatively substantial. Lately it hasn’t been great compared to years ago. Is it just a bout of bad luck on my part?
However on a lighter note, after being rejected by the original retailer where I bought a video ipod and then by Apple Canada who said that yes the iPod was less than three months old but they exempt the LCD screen from the warranty (yes scary eh?), I drove up north to the Laval Apple Store. The Apple genius looked at it, smiled, thought the defective inkblotted LCD screen looked cool and asked me if I minded if he replaced the whole iPod.
After staring dumbfounded at him for awhile…I realized that yes Virginia, there really is a Santa Claus. I am happy with Apple again.
