Apple UK has posted six new “Get a Mac” ads, some of which are entirely new:

  1. There are pretty strong rules about not being able to compare your product to a competitors in TV ads in the UK. E.G. McDonalds wouldn’t be allowed to claim that their Burgers were better or cheaper than Burger King etc.

    Apple might not be comparing themselves specifically to Windows (although one of the ads does mention Vista) – but everyone knows who they are on about really.

    Apple are not reckless and unless they want to end up in court again they will probably keep these ads away from the TV.

    They would be the best ads on TV though and its a pity that they can’t show them.

  2. My local cinema often has one Apple ad at the start of the adverts, with another one as the last advert.

    I’ve seen that happen on several occasions and I’m rather re-assured to notice that many of the audience laugh out loud. Some pundits try to claim that those adverts annoy the public, but the reaction I’ve observed suggests quite the opposite. I think the truth is that the adverts annoy Microsoft-apologists, which of course the general public are not.
