Apple UK has posted six new “Get a Mac” ads, some of which are entirely new:

“I am a ricecake.”
Loved “Network.” Funny stuff!
We need a Fargo version with PC’s legs sticking out of the woodchipper.
I like Magic.
Not sure about the yellow text for the subtitles, it doesn’t feel very Apple to me. I suppose it’s hard when working with a white background and characters wearing darker clothing like that though.
And a Fight Club version would be cool but no one could talk about it.
They are sweet imo. Hilarious.
hehe ‘Naughty Step’ is funny, I remember being threatened with that as a child!
Macs rules. PCs suck (ass).
I think their versions are funnier.
Even the variations on the US ones have a nice twist. Watch Networking or Accident or Pie Chart to see what I mean
Will these be shown on TV? as I haven’t seen any of the others on TV.
Or a Crying Game version with a Michael Dell look-alike as Dil.
PC: “I have something to confess to you Mac.”
Mac: “Speaking of peripherals.”
Can anybody living in the UK tell me if these ads. are shown on TV there, and, if so, how often?
These ads haven’t been shown on TV – we get print and poster ads pointing to the web site saying something like ‘see mitchell and webb as PC and MAC here at …’
Funny stuff !
Who sez the Brits have no sense of humor ? ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”LOL” style=”border:0;” />
Toby, been looking out for them on UK TV channels (Sky Satellite) and have not seen one. The iPod adverts are shown frequently but have yet to see any of the Mac/PC on Primetime shows.
I love these so much I picked up an “I’m a mac” shirt on ebay today. I didn’t see any I’m a pc shirts!
Dave
Ive seen them in movie theatres but have actually yet to see them on tv, so it seems kinda of pointless if they arnt going to put any money to advertise them on tv. same old story.
They’ve even started showing them (the US ones) in New Zealand – I’m amazed! Saw a couple of them around xmas, looks like they’re cutting back now…
They do show these ads in the Cinema in London. Haven’t seen them on TV though.
US version Vista Security ad still the best
There are pretty strong rules about not being able to compare your product to a competitors in TV ads in the UK. E.G. McDonalds wouldn’t be allowed to claim that their Burgers were better or cheaper than Burger King etc.
Apple might not be comparing themselves specifically to Windows (although one of the ads does mention Vista) – but everyone knows who they are on about really.
Apple are not reckless and unless they want to end up in court again they will probably keep these ads away from the TV.
They would be the best ads on TV though and its a pity that they can’t show them.
My local cinema often has one Apple ad at the start of the adverts, with another one as the last advert.
I’ve seen that happen on several occasions and I’m rather re-assured to notice that many of the audience laugh out loud. Some pundits try to claim that those adverts annoy the public, but the reaction I’ve observed suggests quite the opposite. I think the truth is that the adverts annoy Microsoft-apologists, which of course the general public are not.
If interested the Japan ads are here:

Watching all of the UK commercials… I wonder, why in the UK there were 140,000 known viruses for PC instead of 160,000 like in the US?
